Image:Irenteviewpoint.jpg pls. add more information
[edit]Thank you for providing images to the commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on the commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:
- Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
- State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikipedia user, link to the person's local user page.
- If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
- Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
- Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.
If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki.
It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.
Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, have a look at Commons:Licensing, Commons:Criteria for inclusion and the Community Portal. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Village pump. Thank you. ----gildemax 13:34, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
pictures
[edit]I just saw your picture on the candidate for featured pictures-site and therefore had to look on your page... I like your pictures and I think it's really great that you give them to wiki commons - otherwise I don't think there would be a lot of pictures of that region! It's just a pity that in comparison to other pictures yours seem quite pallid.
I really don't know what to think of changing photos on the computer, except perhaps cropping or turning if it's tilted, but I just tried to change the colors of one of your pictures a bit and even if perhaps the colours are not really true know, it does look more interesting...
What do you think of that change?

Hi. Thanks for your comment. I used Nokia 6630 for taking the pics - Its just 1.3 Megapxels. Thanks for changing the colour of Usambara4.jpg. AliFazal 11:07, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Shume.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Shume.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Thanks for uploading File:Usambara3.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Usambara3.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

"Attribution"
[edit]While a Creative Commons license indeed requires Attribution of the author, adding {{Attribution}} to a file page is ABSOLUTELY not the same like adding a Creative Commons license such as {{Cc-by-sa-2.0}} or {{Cc-by-2.0}}. {{Attribution}} is a free-form permission with no requirements other than attributing the author. The Creative Commons licenses are license agreements with a lot more requirements, if you please just read the license agreement. --Martin H. (talk) 23:35, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

Almost done but I still need to know for sure whether Nishani ya Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania is a medal or order. - McOleo (talk) 07:40, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

- The ribbon bars of Kagera River Medal and Kagera Medal are identical. • Neither an order nor medal can be "former". But, obviously, it can be ie. obsolete or no longer awarded. • Because of your new arrangement of the ODM of Tanzania, one may think there are four (ie. Tanganyika Independence Medal) different medals whereas the medal is all the same and it has just four versions/classes: civil, military, police and prisons. In my opinion, the former table was better and more adequate. You may enhance it, placing new ribbon bars in proper positions. - McOleo (talk) 06:55, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
- It's much, much better now. I have in mind all your requests. The only reason I haven't made some graphics is the lack of good samples. But we don't give up, do we? :) - McOleo (talk) 06:21, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
Burundi ribbons
[edit]Hi, here are the ribbon bars of Burundi by Antonio Prieto Barrio - http://www.coleccionesmilitares.com/cintas/africa/burundi2.gif. It was me who included "ribbon" reference in a Polish wiki article of Nelson Madela. Regarding this particular decoration of Prince Al Waleed, which has been familiar to me as well, its ribbon looks like the one of the Order of Patriotic Merit. But I'm not sure if it really is. Furthermore, its badge reminds an alarm clock rather than anything else. Doesn't it? :) - McOleo (talk) 06:54, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

Parliament diagram tool new version
[edit]Hi Ali,
At Wikimania, I ported my parliament diagram tool to Wikimedia's servers, fixed the bug that made the dots invisible above a certain number, and gave it a new, easier interface. Please let me know if it works for you - I need some testers. The source code is now also hosted on github, so you can either file bug reports directly there, or drop me a note on Wikipedia.
Thanks! --Slashme (talk) 22:52, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

Congratulations, Dear license reviewer
[edit]Hi Alifazal, thanks for your request for license reviewer status. The request has been closed as successful, and you've been added to the list of reviewers. You can now start reviewing files – please see Commons:License review and Commons:Flickr files if you haven't done so already. We also have a guide how to detect copyright violations. Potential backlogs include Flickr review, Picasa review, Panoramio review, and files from other sources. You can use one of the following scripts by adding one of the lines to your common.js:
- importScript('User:ZooFari/licensereviewer.js'); // stable script for reviewing images from any kind of source OR
- importScript('User:Rillke/LicenseReview.js'); // contains also user notification when review fails, auto blacklist-check and auto-thank you message for Flickr-reviews.
You can also add {{User license reviewer}} to your user page if you wish. Thank you for your contributions on Commons! User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 16:47, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Evans Kidero speaks during the opening ceremony of the Pre-Global Entrepreneurship Summit.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Thank you. |
