Taiwan maps
[edit]Hi Luuva,
I'm unable to do this myself, but could you make a map for en:Taiwan Province in the form of File:Taiwan ROC political division map Tainan County.svg? The map currently used there is ugly and confusing. --Jiang (talk) 08:38, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Copyright status: File:Kaohsiung_montage_2010.png
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Kaohsiung_montage_2010.png. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:45, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

Taiwan subdivisions
[edit]Hi. I See you've made a number of maps of district/township level subdivisions of Taiwan. Where does the data come from? Kanguole (talk) 10:46, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks very much! I see they pre-date the special municipalities, but they look very useful. Kanguole (talk) 11:29, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
- These maps also don't include Wuciou or the Dongsha or Nansha islands, and they include estuaries as part of townships, but I've used them to make File:Taiwan local government map.svg and File:Population density of Taiwan by district.svg. Thanks again. Kanguole (talk) 18:38, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. The district/township level was far enough for me. Kanguole (talk) 15:30, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
Governor-General of Taiwan
[edit]Hi, Nice to see you here! I also found a similar one for Bigmorr's second emblem. But it looks a little bit different from his work... The person on the stamp was the 4th Government-general Kotama Gentarou.--Wildcursive (talk) 13:38, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
- I have noticed Bigmorr. I believe we share the same goal to enrich images related to Taiwan for the website. Even in Taiwan, many don't know much about our history... I wonder if you make those district maps of Taiwan by using GIS?--Wildcursive (talk) 06:42, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for your information and the pictures you uploaded! I wonder whether the shape of the "台字章" is fixed from its first beginning or evolving from "台" (as the stamp of 兒玉源太郎 period) to the "two triangles"...--Wildcursive (talk) 18:21, 17 March 2013 (UTC)

Locator maps of Taiwans townships
[edit]Hello A-lú-mih, since you have created lots of nice locator map images of Taiwans townships (for Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Taichung and Hualien), I would like to ask you if could also create the remaining maps for Taitung County, Yilan County, New Taipeh City, Chiayi County, Yunlin County, Nantou County, Miaoli County, Hsinchu County? At least the County maps would be really very helpful. The township maps could be created from them. I was thinking about writing some articles about townships in Taitung County but I don‘t like the current locator maps very much. Thank you --Furfur ⁂ Diskussion 21:59, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
- Hello Furfur, as my earlier works are lack of standardization, I've thinking about remade them for a long time. Now I'm starting to make a new series of maps with a new style and some GIS data. Since you are asking for, the maps of Taitung County would be first to be created. I've already uploaded a blank one here, others that indicate specific townships will be uploaded into the "Category:SVG maps of Taitung County" category later. --A-lú-mih (talk) 15:06, 19 April 2018 (UTC)
- Hello A-lú-mih, thats phenomenal news, thank you. I used your maps a lot and found them of high quality. But if you even want to improve them this is very much appreciated! I think it would be nice to have a standardized and unified map scheme for all communities in Taiwan. Currently, the maps of Taipei City and New Taipei City look totally different from those of Kaohsiung City or Pingtung. Your Taitung map looks great! --Furfur ⁂ Diskussion 08:41, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you, Furfur. I'm currently trying to represent some details on the maps. So other communities wouldn't be done too soon. --A-lú-mih (talk) 11:42, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
Hello A-lú-mih, I now have finished all the articles on the townships in Taitung County in de.WP and I have seen that you have created a new map of Kaohsiung (File:Takau - Kohiông - (Kaohsiung City) location map.svg). I would find it helpful if you would create a version that includes a small inserted map of the inner City, like in your previous map (Kaohsiung labelled map.png), because otherwise it is just impossible to create a clickable labelled map. I plan to continue writing articles about townships/districts in various Counties/Cities in Taiwan (currently only one third of them have articles in de.WP). Thank you --Furfur ⁂ Diskussion 20:32, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hello Furfur, thanks for reminding me about the usage of the inserted inner-city map, I will add it onto the maps for Kaohsiung later. Currently I'm still mapping some larger rivers, so the update (for a inserted map) will be done when I finished the river works of three southern communities (Taitung, Pingtung & Kaohsiung). --A-lú-mih (talk) 15:19, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hello A-lú-mih, river maps of Taiwan are also great and urgently needed. I repeatedly had the problem that I had difficulties to find out the name of a river that flew through a township because Google maps often does not name the rivers. All the articles about rivers in Taiwan in all different language versions of wikipedia currently do not have any maps about their drainage area, i.e. their tributaries. --Furfur ⁂ Diskussion 21:22, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hello Furfur, I'm still trying to make the community border maps look like this. They will help me to create the maps that focusing on drainage area or other hydrological properties. --A-lú-mih (talk) 05:14, 13 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hello A-lú-mih, yes I have noticed that you updated the Taitung map. --Furfur ⁂ Diskussion 20:04, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
Hello A-lú-mih, when looking at the new maps I have the impression that the border lines of the rivers could be a little bit thinner to better distinguish them from the township borders. Currently both, rivers and borders appear to have a similar thickness. And one major difference between the Taiwan maps and the Bretagne map is that much more rivers are included in Taiwan. --Furfur ⁂ Diskussion 00:54, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hello Furfur, I agreed with you. And I also feel the maps have become too complicated, so I'll make some adjustments from now on. --A-lú-mih (talk) 01:39, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hello A-lú-mih, thank you very much! Your work is very much appreciated. --Furfur ⁂ Diskussion 14:51, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
Hello A-lú-mih, I have noticed that you are creating diligently new maps of townships and Cities. Thank you very much, that's a great work! Shouldn't Chiayi City in the Chiayi Country map be colored in
orange? --Furfur ⁂ Diskussion 12:42, 9 June 2018 (UTC)
- Hello Furfur, thanks for appreciation! That "County & City" map is just an addition (which might useful sometimes) to the File:Kângi - Kagī - (Chiayi County) location map.svg and File:Kângi - Kagī - (Chiayi City) location map.svg, you could use these two maps (which were colored according to their official status) if you need. --A-lú-mih (talk) 13:29, 9 June 2018 (UTC)
