No signature
This version of the script does not sign notifications left on user talk pages. I don't want to leave anonymous, undated notices which won't be picked up correctly by archiving bots. I'd also rather not receive {{Sign}} notices as a result of using this gadget. —LX (talk, contribs) 17:51, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Edit conflict
Zufolge der API seiten: "Unknown error: This usually means something crazy like a rare race condition occurred. If you get this error, retry your request until it succeeds or returns a more informative error message". Kannst du genau beschreiben was du gemacht hast?--DieBuche (talk) 10:08, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

undefined deletion reason
Could somebody add second parameter to prompt method call (empty string) in nominateForDeletion? I think it's IE-related feature -- it uses "undefined" as default string if only one parameter is used, so there are numerous DRs with "undefined" reason, usually they are quite annoying: 1, 2, for example. Double signatures
I have now seen several people with two signatures. Could we possibly do some replacement before submitting. Probably something like:
reason = reason.replace(/^\s*(.+)\s*$/,'$1'); // trim whitespace
reason = reason.replace(/(.+)(--)?~{3,5}$/,'$1'); // remove signature

Move and Replace Gadget: strange resulting file name
please see http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Arcybiskup_Henryk_Hoser_w_soborze_%C5%9Bw._Marii_Magdaleny_w_Warszawie.jpg&action=history The last move was done with mediawiki directly. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 17:06, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- "File:Arcybiskup Henryk Hoser w soborze św. Marii Magdaleny w Warszawie.jpg. marii magdaleny w warszawie.jpg. marii magdaleny w warszawie.jpg. marii magdaleny.jpg"
- nach
- "File:Arcybiskup Henryk Hoser w soborze św. Marii Magdaleny w Warszawie.jpg"
- verschieben. Die Datei war dann aber unter:
- "File:Arcybiskup Henryk Hoser w soborze św. Marii Magdaleny w Warszawie.jpg. marii magdaleny w warszawie.jpg. marii magdaleny w warszawie.jpg. marii magdaleny w warszawie.jpg. marii magdaleny.jpg".

Missing links on some images?
- This section was archived on a request by: DieBuche (talk) 07:55, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
File:Meireles.jpg is missing the deletion links. I have never seen this before the gadget was switched to the ajax version of the script. A quick browse through a few dozen new and old files did not turn up any others that were affected. —LX (talk, contribs) 17:51, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Right now it's configured to not display the links if there is already a delete/no permission/no source template on the page. --DieBuche (talk) 18:11, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- I see. I'd still prefer if it were still possible to mark a file for speedy deletion as a copyvio even if it has a {{No license since}} tag. This is often the case with newly uploaded files where the uploader has chosen the "I don't know" option. If they are obvious copyvios, we shouldn't wait 7+ days to delete them. —LX (talk, contribs) 18:42, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- You can still add the tag by first clicking on edit & then the links will appear. It was mainly added to prevent people from adding multiple {{Delete}} templates on an image. Maybe we should only hide it for IPs and not confirmed users?--DieBuche (talk) 18:49, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Feature request: add pages to watchlist
- This section was archived on a request by: DieBuche (talk) 07:55, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
I normally watchlist files that I add any kind of problem tag or deletion tag to. I also watchlist user talk pages on which I leave messages. (Deletion discussions that I start are also added thanks to the option to watch all pages I create.) Some of these things are made harder by the script, since it doesn't open up those windows. It would be great to be able to set the script to watch these pages automatically. —LX (talk, contribs) 17:51, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Right now it watchlists the DR page, uses the user preference on watchlisting for talk pages, and doesn't change the current watch status for the daily list. I'll add an option to also watch the user pages--DieBuche (talk) 18:11, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- You can enable it by putting
var AjaxDeleteWatchUserTalk = true;
inside your vector.js. Do you think it should be the default behaviour instead?--DieBuche (talk) 18:28, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- You can enable it by putting
- Awesomesauce. Obviously, I should RTFC. I don't particularly care about other people ;) so you can leave the default alone. Are these things documented somewhere other than in the code? —LX (talk, contribs) 18:48, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Would it be possible to also add an option to add the file description page to the watchlist, say, by adding something like if (window.AjaxDeleteWatchFile) page.watchlist = 'watch';
to prependDeletionTemplate()

Spam blacklist
- This section was archived on a request by: DieBuche (talk) 07:55, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
If copyvio is added with a weblink on the meta:Spam blacklist nothing happens, also no error message. Consequently no warning is added to the user talk. Its ok that nothing happens but maybe people will wonder why nothing happened. I tried adding http://www.online-casino.foo to a random file (my own work of course ;) ). --Martin H. Other input
CfD
Nice. Just one step seems to be missing: it doesn't notify the category creator (e.g. Wst for Tests). There also few minor things: parts still use the terminology from DR: edit summary on the subpage that is being created (currently "Starting deletion request"), screen message when doing stuff ("adding nominating page to the daily discussion page"). The edit on Category:Tests shouldn't be marked minor. Docu at 15:55, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
One click duplicate remover template?
- This section was archived on a request by: DieBuche (talk) 07:55, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
After your great work streamlining rename request template, I was wondering if you'd like to take on duplicates? --99of9 (talk) 13:22, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- I thought about that as well, but stopped for the following reason: In opposite to the rename process, where you only need to make sure that the title is ok, the duplicate deletion involves comparing the files, completing/merging the info templates, sometimes even resolving contradictory license information. Since it should be carefully checked, I don't think a "one-click-solution" would be the best idea here, it might lead to people using it without checking the files properly first.--DieBuche (talk) 14:24, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- Despite those issues, I personally still think it would be a net benefit. But one smaller thing that would help is a single click to create the final redirect. At the moment there's a link which opens it up for editing, but it could autofill the created file with #REDIRECT ... --99of9 (talk) 02:55, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Dialogue boxes broken in Monobook
- This section was archived on a request by: DieBuche (talk) 07:55, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
The last set of updates don't work well for users of the Monobook skin. Instead of a dialogue box, I just get the text, an input box which is cut off on the right-hand side and two buttons, all overlaid on top of the image (which means the text is unreadable if the image is predominantly black). —LX (talk, contribs) 16:17, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- Sounds like jquery is available to all users now, but not yet jquery UI ? TheDJ (talk) 16:35, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- Any word on when this might be fixed? I also noticed some other strange behavior with this version: sometimes, when canceling the tagging and then proceeding again to tag it, the text that had been entered when it was first canceled is what actually gets used. Reproducible fairly often, but not 100% of the time. As it stands, I'd rather have the old behavior with a proper dialogue box back. —LX (talk, contribs) 14:49, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Keep redirect when moving files
We should keep redirect when administrators are trying to move files. In COM:FR#How to rename a file?, the statement is clearly declared: "In most cases a file redirect should be left on the original page, except if it is a misleading or promotional name." The tool seems to suppress file redirects. It was quite unexpected and embarrassing me. Could you configure to keep redirects as default or to make the way to choose whether to delete file redirects? Thank you. – Kwj2772 (msg) 14:40, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
- At the moment, only a "simple" move does not leave behind a redirect. The reasoning is that this command is only used for relative new files that are not yet in use, and leaving redirects behind is thus not that important. With the new jquery UI, i guess we could easily have a checkbox for the leaving of a redirect... TheDJ (talk) 17:51, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Move and Replace Gadget: Can't move a file to a non-file namespace
I tried to move a File to "somefoofilename.jpg" instead of "File:somefoofilename.jpg":

- Regarding my artificial error: I cleared my browser's cache and the appearance changed but the error is still: "An error occurred while nominating this file for deletion." However, the windows containing the text is now big enough to show it.
- But another error occured: the skript has removed the rename template from the files page! Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 00:08, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I was too lazy to change the text, since the error is now nearly impossible to happen. Did you mean that the error happened after the template was removed?--DieBuche (talk) 01:17, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, okay. :D I now have two "errors": 1: If I omit the "File:" when renaming the resulting error message is about "deleting files" 2: If such an error occurs the move template should stay on the files page since the file is not moved. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 01:30, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- Turned out to be a simple typo: cleanup instead of cleanUp ;)--DieBuche (talk) 01:43, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

When I nominate one of my subpages for deletion, the script notified myself. It shouldn't do so, since I already know I'm requesting deletion of my pages. This would avoid doing this.
Besides, for both css and js pages which I nominated it displayed "404 error: File not found" after completed. Helder 17:06, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- Could you move this to Mediawiki talk:AjaxQuickDelete.js, & I'll look into it later--DieBuche (talk) 17:26, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- I've (hopefully) fixed the notification bug: all it took was an "
if (user == wgUserName) continue;
" in the right spot. No idea what might be causing 404 errors, though. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 22:24, 7 November 2010 (UTC)- Weird, that used to work (see line 477). Regarding the 404: For some reason http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User%3AHelder.wiki/monobook.css works, http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User%3AHelder.wiki%2Fmonobook.css doesn't (compare the slash before monobook). OT: You don't need the create a deletion request for your own pages, just put a {{Speedy}} on it--DieBuche (talk) 23:40, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- Ah, I see... the problem was that the wgUserName check was missing from the "First handle non-file pages" branch above. Anyway, having it in notifyUploaders() works just as well, and catches more possible cases. (What if someone transferred an image from Flickr using Flickr upload bot, and then nominated it for deletion.) —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 05:02, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- Regarding th utility function: See http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/trunk/phase3/resources/mediawiki.util/mediawiki.util.js?view=markup , which will be available with RL--DieBuche (talk) 08:38, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

"Nominate category for discussion" on Category:Waldsterben
I cannot use this tool for Category:Waldsterben. The reason is that the creator (User:ArtMechanic) died and his discussion page is therefore protected. So the author cannot be notified and the whole process stops. This is sure an odd exception. I still recommend to just give a message "Notification failed" (plus a link to the user-discussion-page) and to proceed without the notification. Notifying is sure the polite thing to do but IMHO not crucial to start a discussion. Greetings Jahobr (talk) 12:34, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
- Talk pages should never be protected. -- RE rillke questions? 14:41, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- Consensus had been to protect talk pages of dead users. I suggest also tagging them with {{Nobots}} to avoid breaking bots, gadgets, etc. — Jeff G. ツ 13:27, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- I added this template. --Leyo 22:32, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

Feature request: Checkbox for notifying user
It would be awesome if we could get a checkbox in the popup that allows us to uncheck it if we don't want to notify the uploader (for various reasons such as wanting to leave a custom message instead, prevent spamming when nominating multiple files from the same user, nominating your own files, nominating files uploaded by a upload bot, etc.). Rocket000 (talk) 07:51, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- I see this is already on the TODO list. Rocket000 (talk) 07:52, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Btw, It already excludes yourself, people with {{Nobots}} on their page, and for most bots It finds the "real" uploader--DieBuche (talk) 10:48, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- Cool, I didn't know that. A checkbox would still be nice though. :) Rocket000 (talk) 13:26, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
