Opt out (of the list Deceased contributors)

- --Michaeldsuarez (talk) 13:58, 8 December 2014 (UTC), I don't want to be mentioned on enwiki's list either.
- --A.Savin 10:43, 29 June 2015 (UTC), I don't want to be mentioned on any other wiki's list either, especially not on dewiki's list.
Just some comments
[edit]As mentioned at the Village pump I have seen in the list people who have contributed for only 1 or 2 days. Just as an example: user 'Canadagirl' has contributed for one day and has uploaded one photo. I even question whether is was her own photo. No meta data and 6 hits on TinEye. How did she came on the list? Just a note of an other user on her talk page to mention that she has died including the date of birth and death? The 'real name' is also mentioned in most of the cases. Who revealed the names and decided to put the names in the list? Is that in accordance to the will of the deceased person? Further I would expect only names of people who have contributed significantly to Commons. It is difficult to define 'significantly', but one can think of contributed for at least 4 month AND at least 100 contributions OR there is a page as mentioned in the column 'Memorial'.Wouter (talk) 20:43, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
- She and all others currently on the list come on that list because I, who had the idea for it and created it after becoming aware of the recent death of a Commons user, created it. The real names as well as the notifications and dates of death come from the corresponding local memorial pages, where they had been published earlier than here. I asked for inclusion criteria at my first rfc at COM:AN on April 21st, but there was very little feedback. --Túrelio (talk) 20:48, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
RFC: How inclusive should our memorial list be?
[edit]As per Wouter's above comment and other users comments at Forum and COM:AN, I repeat my earlier[1] request for comment on the inclusion criteria for this list.
In the (still current) draft I had included all users, of whom I knew (mostly from local memorial pages) that they had died and who had own edits on Commons. (well, today I detected one additional deceased 1-upload user[2]) Some of the currently included users have very few edits/uploads. What inclusion criteria are used on the local memorials? Expressed inclusion criteria I found only on :en „they have made at least several hundred edits or are otherwise known for substantial contributions to Wikipedia“ and :es "Solamente se incluirá a aquellos que hayan formado parte integrante de esta comunidad y realizaron varios cientos de ediciones.", whereas the large memorial on :de seems to go without such a restriction.
On the other hand, there are a few deceased users with a lot of own images on Commons, who never edited themselves on Commons and whose images were transferred by others to Commons. As of yet, I haven’t included them. --Túrelio (talk) 13:03, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
So there are at least 2 points of discussion.
- Should inclusion in our list require a defined threshold/minimum of activity on Commons? number of edits, uploads, uploads of self-created material, etc.? duration/period of activity?
- Opinion of 4028mdk09 is: all users with an self-created account of whose death we know for sure and who haven't opted-out (see above), should be included in the list, independent of their edit-count or duration of activity. The memorial shouldn't become a sort of "Best of ...". --(voiced in German on my talkpage and translated by me) Túrelio (talk) 19:14, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
- Should users without own edits, but with images (only self-created?) on Commons that were originally uploaded to other WMF projects and later transferred to Commons by other users, be included in the list?

- Oppose The cross is the Christianity symbol. The template shouldn't depend on a religion -- George Chernilevsky talk 06:47, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
- My idea with this presentation wasn't necessarily to choose/offer only 1 option. Besides, at least for the German-speaking countries in the context of death this symbol isn't universally associated with Christianity. --Túrelio (talk) 07:55, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
- OK. My sample added below -- George Chernilevsky talk 10:20, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

Additional opinion
[edit]It is necessary to add to template IMO:
- Nickname (Sample: User XXXX has passed away.)
- Real name (if known)
- Date of birth (if known)
- Death date
- Link to condolences
If information isn't known, empty lines not to display. -- George Chernilevsky talk 06:58, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

Lonibug
[edit]In one of the deletion discussions, the user Lonibug was mentioned as deceased citing this link. I can not open the link; presumably one has to be in the US to be able to open it. If someone can do it and verify the death, could you please add the user to the list if appropriate? Thanks.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:24, 3 February 2020 (UTC)
- Seems to be the same case: [19] and [20]. RIP. --Túrelio (talk) 19:39, 3 February 2020 (UTC)
Now, having this data, we know the real name (Ilona Gonzalez (Benter) ), age (30), citizenship (USA), and date of death (February, 1, 2016). I suppose this information should be added to the memory table. R.I.P. -- George Chernilevsky talk 08:42, 4 February 2020 (UTC)
What is the procedure for archiving deceased contributor's talk page when it exceeds Wikimedia software limits
[edit]User talk:Qweasdqwe is in Category:User talk pages where template include size is exceeded. The templates below User talk:Qweasdqwe#File:Istomin Vasily Innokentyevich.jpg aren't displaying properly.
My initial thought was just to archive everything prior to 2018 (the year he died), but I wanted to see if there was a precedent for this type of situation first. Davidwr (talk) 16:15, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
Philweb : un oubli ?
[edit]Bonjour.
Merci d'avance. Père Igor (talk) 09:49, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
Rollback
[edit]Yann, can you explain your rollback? Firstly, you have returned an error from the previous user, and the Karl Bauer line now contains a piece of code again: 30 March 2007 -br/>15 February 2017
. Secondly, the <br>
HTML tag has changed its appearance several years ago. Romano1981 (talk) 07:22, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you sir for your polite reply and apology. It is extremely indecent to fuss where you do not understand the issue, and then be afraid to explain your conduct. --Romano1981 (talk) 17:45, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
grey html color code moved to a template css color style
[edit]I created Template:Table Alternance/Style.css and changed the code so the color codes do not need to be added for each new row.
This also allows to sort rows with color alternance.
