Opus

[edit]

It appears we now support Opus in an OGG container (bugzilla:51313) − should we mention it here?

Visualization of audio files using waveforms

[edit]

Just FYI: I thought it could be nice to have a visualization of audio files similar to what freesound.org uses, so I've opened phab:T103527. Cheers, --El Grafo (talk) 08:49, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@TheAafi, maybe it's not very usefull to make tvar tagging for en-wiki links (like w:Ogg)? The fact is that in this case it will no longer be possible to place links like :ru:Ogg for other languages. Okras (talk) 09:47, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note @Okras. I will make some tweaks later in the night to help with this. ─ Aafī (talk) 09:54, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Okras: ✓ Done. I remove the tvars subject to allowing localisation easily. Best regards, ─ Aafī (talk) 18:04, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

With videos it is possible to specify a start (and end) time of the video – see Commons:Video#Temporal media fragments. Is that already possible somehow for audio files?

I think it would be very useful if in the file description of Spoken Wikipedia audio files there were links to the different sections of the article. For example, if one is only interested in a particular section of the article one could jump to it directly. This doesn't seem to work with videos either as one would have to append ?start=00:26 but can only append things like #start=00:26. Is there some issue about these things?
