Remove photo during description step

You need to upload it to commons and then add the file to articles with format:

Lee Grant in Fay, 1975

File upload issues

Hi

I've given two similar photos the same title "Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides)". However, given this has been used as the file name - only one is appearing. I can't re-upload the second file as uploader is saying the file already exists.

Sorry - I figured the fact that I uploaded both files at once, and that original uploaded files had different names, meant they would be differentiated.

I have tried so many times to attach this relevant portrait to the Wikipedia page. It is a frustrating experience and I have now been waiting 15 minutes for a small file to upload. A spinning circle and a message saying 'uploading' is a frustrating sight! I have tried to complete every hurdle that Wikipedia has put in front of me but this is not easy! File:Osian Ellis.jpg or another one you are trying to upload? Many don't like the Upload Wizard so you may wish to use Special:Upload or Commons:Commonist. We have other uploaders as well in Commons:Upload tools.--Canoe1967 (talk) 14:57, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Deutsch: Hat noch jemand Probleme mit dem UploadWizard?

Es dauert einfach ewig, bis der Upload (der letzte Schritt) eingeleitet wird, dann muss ein nichtfunktionierendes Skript gestoppt werden, wieder ewig warten, dann kommt "Es wird empfohlen, dass du eine Kategorie für deine hochgeladenen Dateien angibst. Willst du fortfahren, ohne alle Felder auszufüllen?" - obwohl ich für alle Dateien eine Kategorie angegeben hatte, und diese auch blau unterlegt in den jeweiligen Beschreibungsfenstern zu sehen sind. Die heutige Fehlermeldung ist scheinbar grundlos gewesen, alle Dateien sind in der richtigen Kategorie gelandet. Gestern beging ich den Fehler das vorangestellte "Category:" mit zu kopieren. Musste dann für jede Datei nach korrigiert werden. Hat hier das Feld "Kategorie" nicht auch die Funktionalität von HotCat, bei dem das überflüssige "Category:" ja gestrichen wird und der auch Redirect-Kategorien in die "richtige" zu verwendende ändert?

Und dann hätte ich noch eine Bitte/Anmerkung an die Entwickler: einen Undo-Knopf oder die standardmäßige Entfernung des Hakens beim Übernehmen des Dateinamens. Es ist einfach ärgerlich, wenn ich versehentlich auch die Dateinamen von 49 Dateien durch des Kopieren der Beschreibung auf die restlichen Dateien übertrage und der einzige Weg diesen Fehler zu korrigieren darin besteht den Upload wieder ganz von vorne zu beginnen (und erst einmal wieder zu warten, ...). --PigeonIP (talk) 10:24, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

The problem you are reporting sounds like a potential issue in the code of the MediaWiki software or the server configuration. If the problem is reproducible, it would be nice if somebody who has this issue could send the software bug to the 'Bugzilla' bug tracker by following the instructions How to report a bug, in this case under the product 'MediaWiki Extensions' and the component 'UploadWizard' (You can use this direct link if you have a Bugzilla account). This is to make developers of the software aware of the issue. If you have done so, please paste the number of the bug report (or the link) here, so others can also inform themselves about the bug's status. can't upload new version

I've upload new version (3.56 MB), but the "current version" is still shows that old version (3.48 MB), it's different with that "File history", fucking wiki system is error ([1]). NSYSU (talk) 12:59, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

That is probably a caching issue that takes a few days to clear sometime. I found that if you create an oddball thumb then it can fix it immediately most times.--Canoe1967 (talk) 02:55, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

What are clear steps to reproduce? It's unclear to me which exact file size is misbehaving, and with which version of the file to compare it with. --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 14:35, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

It usually happens when you upload a version with a different ratio. Wider or taller. The system clears itself after a few days but purging, refreshing etc can as well. Someone came up with odd thumbs like 219px, 141px, 199px, etc to fix it as well.--Canoe1967 (talk) 20:29, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Licence preference

Hi, I selected "Own work - Creative Commons CC0 Waiver (release all rights, like public domain: legal code)" in the Upload Wizard preferences. However, when uploading a file, the licence still remains the standard licence. Any ideas? Regards, Christoph Braun (talk) 10:46, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

The upload wizard has limited choices. I sometimes pick the closest license and then change it after upload to a better match. Category:CC license tags has most of our CC licenses if you wish to select a better one.--Canoe1967 (talk) 17:41, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
