Our media donations
[edit]The KB regularly uploads/donates rights free (mostly public domain) media files (mainly images) from its collections to Wikimedia Commons. Below is an overview of the image collections we plan to donate in the future, as well as an overview of the images we already uploaded.
Planned image donations
[edit]The KB is planning to donate the following images sets to Commons in the near future
- The remaining 24 volumes of Flora Batava (KB copy)
- More rights-free broadsheets prints
- Images from Turkenkalender 1942 printed by Hendrik Nicolaas Werkman
- More rights-free images from alba amicorum from the collection of the KB, to be added to Category:Alba amicorum from Koninklijke Bibliotheek. This effort is part of the WikiProject Alba amicorum National Library of the Netherlands
- 11.141 illuminations (illustrations and decorations) from 400 medieval manuscripts. These will be added to the Category:Medieval manuscripts from Koninklijke Bibliotheek. This effort is part of the WikiProject Medieval manuscripts National Library of the Netherlands
- The public domain images + PDFs from the 381 children's picture books on Europeana. These will be added to Category:Picture books from Koninklijke Bibliotheek. This effort is part of the WikiProject Children's picture books National Library of the Netherlands
Media donations completed

June 2023 - First 4 volumes of the KB copy of Flora Batava, the most complete inventory of the Dutch wild flora published between 1800 and 1934. The remaining 24 volumes will be added to Commons a.s.a.p.

October 2022 - First batch of 1.830 broadsheets from the collection of the KB providing insight into the Dutch culture from the 17th to the 19th century. Thousands of additional broadsheets will become available on Commons in 2023.

July 2022 - 142 images related to 400 years of relations between the Netherlands and Japan (1609-2009).

April 2021 - Recueil des histoires de Troyes. 393 scans from an early (1485-1486) printed book on the history of Troy

Feb-March 2021 - Pm 1325 images from six alba amicorum: the alba of Seino Mulert, Hiskia van Harinxma thoe Slooten, Ernst Brinck, Geertruida Bosboom-Toussaint, Burchard Grossmann and for a female member of the Staring family

December 2020 - Texts related to the collection highlights of the KB released under the CC0 license, as stated on the Copyright page on kb.nl. The exact page URLs are listed in this Excel

5 February 2018 - Two parts of the Book of Hours of Simon de Varie from ca.1455: KB 74G37 (201 scans) and KB 74G37a (256 scans), including 66 miniatures and 2 PDFs

26 January 2018 - Der naturen bloeme. 170 page scans, 461 miniatures and 1 PDF from Der naturen bloeme by Jacob van Maerlant and other texts from ca. 1345.

3 October 2017 - Liber Pantegni. The 11th c. Liber pantegni is probably the oldest surviving medical codex in Western Europe. 96 images and 1 PDF

3 October 2017 - Trivulzio Book of Hours. 305 images and 1 PDF from the Trivulzio Book of Hours, a true masterpiece of Flemish miniature art from ca. 1470.

3 October 2017 - Psalter of Eleanor of Aquitaine (ca. 1185). 344 images and 1 PDF from the beautifully illustrated Fécamp psalter made for Eleanor of Aquitaine

3 October 2017 - Nassau-Vianden armorial (ca. 1490). 43 images from the oldest known armorial of the Nassau dynasty

3 October 2017 - Kattendijkekroniek (ca. 1491). 1.133 pages from a late-medieval manuscript filled with coats of arms and banners related to the family history of the Counts of Holland

14 July 2016 - the full Beyeren armorial; a manuscript from 1405 with 1096 colored coats of arms. A who's who of medieval knights. 67 hi-res images and 1 PDF.

29 January 2016 - Historic bookbindings from the bookbindings collection of the KB. 760 digitized bookbindings (front views only) from the period 1100-1875

13 November 2015 - 512 maps from the proceedings of the Dutch Parliament (the so-called States General) from the period 1885-1995.

17 July 2015 - Atlas van der Hagen. 446 maps and prints by Joan Blaeu, Willem Jansz Blaeu, Nicolaas Visscher II et al. brought together by the Amsterdam merchant and map collector Dirk van der Hagen

17 July 2015 - Atlas Beudeker. 133 images about the northern and southern Netherlands from volume 21 of the atlas named after the Amsterdam merchant Christoffel Beudeker

17 July 2015 - Atlas Schoemaker. 2579 images of topographical drawings, descriptions and prints of Dutch towns, villages and hamlets in the early 18th century by the Amsterdam textile merchant Andries Schoemaker

14 October 2014 - Admirandorum quadruplex spectaculum, a.k.a. the quadruple spectacle of miracles from ca. 1700.

16 September 2014 - Atlas Ortelius, a.k.a. the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum from 1571. This is considered to be the first modern atlas.
