Toulouse photographs
[edit]I've uploaded a series of photographs that I took on a recent visit to Toulouse. I've subsequently realised that I may not own the copyright to the images, due to the lack of a freedom of panorama in France. The specific images are:
- Image:Fontaine_de_la_place_Wilson.jpg
- Keep. Didn't find the sculptor, but the fountain and the statue honoring the poet Pierre Goudouli apparently date to 1898.[1] Lupo 21:16, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
- Definitely keep: sculptor was fr:Alexandre Falguière (1831-1900).[2] Lupo 18:57, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

- Delete, Fountain by A. Saura, 1987. Lupo 21:29, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
- Image:Médiathèque José Cabanis, Toulouse.jpg
- Image:Médiathèque José Cabanis, Toulouse 2.jpg
- Delete both, built in 2002 by architect Jean-Pierre Buffi. Lupo 21:29, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
- Image:Mediatheque Cabanis - Toulouse.jpg should probably also be deleted at some point, then; it's a picture of the same building by someone else (NB: I'm not including that in this deletion request, just pointing out that it exists.) Mike Peel (talk) 10:17, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

- Who were the three sculptors who did the bas-reliefs? Who was the architect? It's a WWI victory monument. Lupo 21:29, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
- The Monument des Combattants de la Haute-Garonne was built in 1918. 70 years ago was 1938. Subtracting the 8 1/2 years from the WW2 copyright extension, that takes us to 1930. So the architect would have had to have died before 1930 for it to be in the public domain; that's a pretty small time period... Mike Peel (talk) 10:17, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
- If fr:Prorogations de guerre is correct, you can forget about the French wartime copyright extensions except for musical works. And yes, 20 years isn't much, but it's still possible that these four people all died before 1938. Worth checking, I'd say. Lupo 17:12, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
- All right: according to [3], the architect was Léon Jaussely (1875-1932). The design and main sculptor was "Raynaud", probably Camille Raynaud (?-?, born at Cordes (Tarn), student of Falguière, already active 1895). The sculptor André Abbal (1876-1953) did the warriors, and Henri-Raphaël Moncassin (1883-1958) did a figure of a widow and orphan. Note that the project for the monument was accepted in 1921, and the construction completed only in 1931. Therefore: Delete Image:Toulouse war memorial 2.jpg in any case, and Delete the others unless we can determine that Camille Raynaud also died before 1938. Lupo 09:59, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Please could someone confirm that these buildings and structures are not in the public domain, and if they aren't, delete the images?
I believe that the other photographs taken in France that I have uploaded (listed at User:Mike_Peel#France) are OK as the buildings or bridges they depict are either old, or are generic. Other people's opinions on these would be appreciated, though.
Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 17:45, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- Please can this deletion request be closed, keeping the first image but deleting the rest? Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 19:50, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
