These images show the 1929 architectural work of French architect w:Roger Gonthier (died 1978) in an intentional (not accessory) manner. France has no commercial freedom of panorama, and therefore all these images infringe on his copyright, held by his heirs. Copyright expires by January 1, 2049 (70+1 years after his death), so undelete or restore these in 2049.

Anyone calling for keep must obtain COM:VRTS correspondence of permission from Gonthier's heirs for their (uploaders') use of commercial Creative Commons licensing. Non-commercial license is forbidden as per COM:Licensing. French laws cannot be changed further as France has opposed free-culture freedom of panorama in the past.

Note that a local file exists on enwiki, as en:File:LimogesStationTower.jpg, under their local exemption doctrine allowing full resolutions of unfree buildings of no-FOP countries to be hosted there.

More image files

More files, previously under Category:Gare de Limoges-Bénédictins. Same reason as the 1st nomination: no commercial freedom of panorama in France, and the artist died in 1978 (will not be in public domain until January 1, 2049. The architectural work in these images is intentional and not accessory.

I will try to find the rightholders of the architect and ask them for permission to publish the photos. --Poudou99 (talk) 17:39, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Poudou99: if possible also include the enwiki local file en:File:LimogesStationTower.jpg so that it can also now be hosted here with VRTS permission. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 01:31, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Poudou99: .
--Poudou99 (talk) 12:17, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Google Translate of the input by Poudou99: As suggested by @Yann (A) (in the bistro-FR), I contacted the Limoges tourist office. They were very surprised at the question. I have other tracks (which I will not name here). While doing web research, I saw Pascal Plas's book. It sounds interesting, it is an avenue to be exploited. Anyway, it's crazy the number of French organizations or institutions that publish photos of the station without indicating the slightest mention of rights. _ trans by JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 13:07, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oui, cet exemple montre bien pourquoi l'absence de liberté de panorama en France est un non-sens. Je parierais que les ayants-droits eux-mêmes ne le savent pas. Cordialement, Yann (talk) 12:41, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Google Translate of Yann's input: Yes, this example clearly shows why the lack of freedom of panorama in France is nonsense. I would bet that the rights holders themselves don't know. _ trans. by JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 13:07, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Yann and Poudou99: I have to admit that I am not pleased with the French FOP, limited to uses that are non-commercial. Yet various Internet activities (like commercial vlogs on YouTube, travel portals, and even several netizens' activities on social media) might fall under either commercial or semi-commercial. When will French FOP rules be made modernized is an unanswerable question, however. Even works where thousands use everyday cannot be freely depicted — most infamously one regarding Millau Viaduct, whose management is an exclusive beneficiary of Architect Norman Foster's exclusive rights. ça me révolte ! ils n'ont pas été payés et certainement grassement pour faire leur boulot ? il leur en faut encore ?
on leur fait pourtant de la publicité gratuite et ça ne leur suffit pas !! Emmmeuge (talk) 10:32, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Google Translate of Emmmeuge's input: that revolts me ! they weren't paid and certainly handsomely to do their job? they still need some? yet we give them free publicity and that is not enough for them !! _ Google Translation conducted by JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 07:27, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
