I don't think this is own work of Flickr uploader because of the low resolution and lack of EXIF. Moreover, there is a similar image Morning Sunshine (talk) 13:24, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The logo of Yleisradio has not changed, per the YLE website. This is a fictional logo by WPK, and should be deleted. This file's usage on the Finnish Wikipedia article for YLE should be reverted back to the proper logo File:YLE logo.svg Fry1989 eh? 19:39, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not a fictional logo at all, please look and read from the Yle website: YLE to get new look (English) and: Uutta Yle-ilmettä! (Finnish). --WPK (talk) 23:20, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If that is the case, you should A, put the links on the file's description section so others don't question it, and B, not change the logo on any articles (including the Finnish Wikipedia) until the change has come into effect. I retract my nomination. Fry1989 eh? 00:05, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The current logo must still be put back on all the articles WPK replaced with this file, the article WPK linked says the new logo wont be introduced until spring, that's still a long way away. WPK, its not good to jump the boat. Fry1989 eh? 04:42, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In any case, the logo is not a fictional and should not be delete, as you see and read: YLE to get new look (English) and: Uutta Yle-ilmettä! (Finnish). If You like, You can do Your changes on the articles, but do not delete the newest logo of Yle. --WPK (talk) 07:51, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
WPK, I already said I retract my nomination. But you still must revert your changes and put back the current logo until this new one is introduced next Spring. Fry1989 eh? 17:26, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The mp gives incorrect figure. for example, Oman should be colored as Ibadi, because Oman is 70% Ibadi, but its colored as completely Sunni. I can anem other problems, but in short, it should look more like this PassaMethod (talk) 15:10, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Question Pieter, help us here. We have a June, 1944 image and a known photographer, so if it is a work, it is not PD. I assume, therefore, that you are saying that it is not a "work", and that 1969 is the relevant date. Why is this carefully staged and lighted portrait not a "work"?      Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talk to me) 14:32, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The Scandinavian countries protected all photography regardless of any threshold, but with a duration counting from creation. For photographic works the threshold of originality is high. Professional competence is not enough. This photo is a routine job by a good studio photographer. But he did not sign his work, like an artist would. And the pretty subject does not make it a work - there is no difference with a good photo of a hamburger or something like that. It is just advertising photography, not high art. In this decision, the Swedish Supreme Court regarded an elaborately composed photo of a stage scene with many models and props as a "photographic image". /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 14:49, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There are several problems with this image. for example Oman should be colored as Ibadi, instead is colored Sunni. Qadian should be colored as Ahmadiyya. Some north african regions should be colored as Sufi. PassaMethod (talk) 15:18, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • The map is certainly simplistic, and I'm sympathetic to some of PassaMethod's concerns, but Ahmadiyya would barely show up at all on a map of this scale. Also, many believe that Sufism and Sunnism are not mutually exclusive... AnonMoos (talk) 10:01, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Keep. I may not have stated it clearly enough above. In cases like this, where each letter itself is transparent or white, the definition of the font includes the surrounding tile. Therefore all we have here is three letters in a particular font, which takes us directly to PD-text-logo.      Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talk to me) 16:29, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Based on w:Wikipedia:Non-free content review/Archive 52#File:TLC LA - from Commons.png, this image is likely above the threshold of originality. Stefan4 (talk) 15:43, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Keep IMO a simple gradient does not make a logo copyrightable. As an example, I'd like to refer to the Internet Explorer logo. - Fma12 (talk) 16:04, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There is no evidence that File:Internet Explorer 9 icon.svg is below the threshold of originality, so your example can't be used for anything. Furthermore, a simple border was enough to put the second logo in [4] above the threshold of originality. The button art and colour effects look a lot more complex than that. --Stefan4 (talk) 16:14, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What would be the "evidence" you refer to? Your own point of view? I have been in other discussions about the files you nominated, and I realized that you consider anything copyrightable, including simple text logos with no shading or similar effects. If "there is no evidence" as you state so drastrically, nominate the Explorer logo for deletion too. Fma12 (talk) 13:13, 20 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
See COM:EVIDENCE: the uploader should provide evidence that the copyright tag is correct. If not, the image should be deleted. --Stefan4 (talk) 13:30, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Delete - I thought the previous closures were incorrect, and I still believe that. The texture behind the lettering could likely pass the threshold of originality. That said, we could easily create an image that looks almost exactly like this one (when not zoomed in) by removing the texture. That image would be below the threshold.  Comment Some Wiki projects are using File:Tlc logo discovery.jpg, which is exactly the same but no textures surround the letters. Fma12 (talk) 03:17, 22 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Keep Although, as I argued above, I think the letters shown here are simple fonts and therefore PD in the USA, which is the source country, I also note that the station is actually using a font that has no shading. It is possible that the shading here is an artifact and does not represent the actual usage. .     Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 18:25, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I was under the impression that textures are separable and could cause an otherwise text-only logo to be considered copyrightable. Regardless, I don't think there's any actual texture here; it looks to me like compression artifacts. Powers (talk) 18:14, 29 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
A bizarre way for the compression artifacts to appear, strong and frequent on some parts, and completely non-existent in others! If you view the image under full resolution, I don't see how you can come to the conclusion that these are artifacts. And if they are artifacts, then we won't be hurt if we delete this image in favor of one without artifacts. If they aren't artifacts, then they are copyrightable. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 18:29, 29 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Keep The image consists of fonts on tiles and I don't see that the simple shading that can be applied by almost every graphics program reaches the threshold of originality. --AussieLegend () 14:19, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted as being above TOO. We have tiles with some kind of structure, and shadows which I consider as intentionally chosen by the creator. This seems to be a borderline case, but COM:PCP suggest to delete when in reasonable doubt, which is the case here per discussion above. --Krd 20:27, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In the OTRS ticket the author says that as the political party dissapeared the logo is on public domain according Mexican law, I don't sure --Ezarateesteban 21:39, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I asked on the OTRS noticeboard to check the ticket content and comment the issue furthermore. Especially, such claims should be justified by relevant legal references (law and article or the date and the court of the jurisprudential decision) --Dereckson (talk) 14:01, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The ticket is an email from the uploader stating that he is the creator and grants permission for the use of this logo (and several others) with the licenses indicated on the file pages. He continues to assert that, under Mexican law, logos of defunct political parties are considered public domain.
I have numerous concerns with this ticket: 1) The second assertion inherently contradicts the authorship claim. If this is a political party logo, the uploader has merely created a derivative with no right to license; 2) Email address in the OTRS ticket is one anyone may sign up for, not one that would suggest affiliation with PSN (i.e., a right to license on its behalf); 3) No reference is given to any official statue or ruling, which would be necessary to support the claim. Эlcobbola talk 14:24, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Delete until such time as we have reliable support for the notion that 1) logos of defunct Mexican political parties are PD and 2) that PSN is indeed defunct - per my comments above. Further, poor quality (pixelation) and logo's appearance at least here on 27 January 2010, well before the upload here (24 October 2011) suggest authorship claim is unreliable. Because I, the Owner would like it to be, it's no longer used or needed. Alpinesportbkr (talk) 07:45, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Good afternoon,
This is a photo in public domain. This means you abandon the notion of Owner and any right on this picture. So, the request couldn't be granted as is. Please explain why you would like we delete the picture, without any link as uploader or photographer, as they're not applicable to public domain pictures (those pictures belonging to all, to "the public").
For example, we're absolutely willing to remove pictures from identifiable private person, especially if they were taken in private places or without the subject consenting, but also if they aren't educative (ie useful to illustrate a subject ; so any writer/sport/politician picture would be kept, but "non public" people pictures could be deleted). --Dereckson (talk) 11:52, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
