Sorry, I wasn't aware that my bot needed approval. I've been running it since 19 October 2022 and it has made 16.5k edits so far.
Bot's tasks for which permission is being sought:
The bot helps me doing semi-automated repetitive edits such as:
- Fixing bad usage of the {{Taken on}} template (example 1, example 2, example 3).
- Categorizing images of the Pentagon (example).
- Fix dates of dvidshub.net images (example).
Fix typos which would impact search (example). I wouldn't use the bot to fix insignificant (edit: grammar or spelling) typos.- Mark files as uncategorized (example).
- Remove gibberish and request renames of khteWisconsin files (example).
Automatic or manually assisted:
The bot is manually assisted. I write and test scripts for each situation. For each case I first manually approve each edit the bot is making and once confidence is gained that the bot is doing the right thing, I let it run automatically.
Edit type (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): One-time runs.
Maximum edit rate (e.g. edits per minute): The maximum that my bot is allowed to do which seems to be around 6 times per minute.
Bot flag requested: (Y/N): I'm not sure if I need the bot flag.
Programming language(s): python/pywikibot
Please note that there was a discussion about my bot on the Commons pump: Commons:Village pump#Unnecessary bot edits.

- All tasks seems OK for me, but please don't insert newline between existing and added categories. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:49, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for weighing in. The newline is added by pywikibot.textlib.replaceCategoryLinks. I don't like it either and will change my code to add the category without the newline. Cryptic-waveform (talk) 16:08, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
- Generally seems okay to me as well. Please do make sure that the bot does not make cosmetic-only edits like this. Thanks, Pi.1415926535 (talk) 17:48, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for making the proposal. Generally seems ok, but I think Fix typos which would impact search needs further discussion. How do you detect the language of the text with the typo? Commons is multilingual and what is an typo in one language might be the expected writing in another. For backgound, the general typo module from Commons:AWB is deactivated on Commons for exaclty these reasons. --Schlurcher (talk) 19:24, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not fixing any grammatical/spelling typos. The only example I've done with the bot is correcting "Arlnigton" to "Arlington". Cryptic-waveform (talk) 20:04, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
- Mhh, ok. So should this then be part of this request? --Schlurcher (talk) 22:34, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
