Hi! I am administrator in ru.wiki since 2007, twice served in the Arbitration Committee there, so that I can claim a certain experience in administrating wiki projects. As far as I can see, quite many images of unclear contents are uploaded to Commons with descriptions in Russian, and heavy dose of them are subject for deletion or speedy deletion, — consequently, I would be able to help the project by cleaning the space. - Support Been around for a while, done some useful work, has the experience and a useful language set - we have had less appropriate RfAs in the past. Might be nice to archive your talk page though - thanks for helping --Herby talk thyme 10:56, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

- Support Intermediate level in Latvian language? That's good! After reading Andrei's userpage and talkpage in ru.wiki and his edits in lv.wiki I am happy to announce, that I trust him with admin's tools and I do not want to be the only administrator from Baltic states. - Neutral a bit clueless eh? didnt know how to transclude this page. didnt know how to make wikidata infobox show. etc.--RZuo (talk) 08:29, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
- Meh, I didn't know how the Wikidata infobox worked at first, and had to specify the Q number just to make it work. Then I realized that I should add the cat to the Wikidata page to make it work. Admins are normal users too, they just have special tools trusted to them by the community. Having those tools is a burden to the user, not a gain. pandakekok9 09:23, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
- I don't oppose any adminship request, please end the deletion backlog and maybe the LR backlog ? Thanks // Eatcha (talk) 14:38, 2 July 2020 (UTC)

- Support For the time you are active on Commons, you don't have a lot of edits. 13.000+ in more than 13 years. Other things and answers to questions give a better indication, also the fact that you are administrator since 2007 on ru.wikipedia. So I give you the benefit of the doubt. (and who am I to oppose?) :-) - Richardkiwi (talk) (talk) 13:45, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
- Silly to say but in all these years I just used Commons for uploading some pictures (and nominating for deletion pictures from the articles I deleted in ru.wiki). And it is only recently when it occurred to me what tons of trash and unsorted mishmash are stored here waiting for somebody to sort them out! Andrei Romanenko (talk) 19:28, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

- Question: Can you assess your own recent upload: file:Bratza.jpg - how’d you know the author died 70 or more years ago if you claim the author is unknown? --VLu (talk) 06:51, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
- Obviously we don't know it for sure. However, as a regular studio photograph of the period this work is anonymous and exposed to public more than 70 years ago; additionally, according to UK copyright law it belongs to Public Domain anyway. Andrei Romanenko (talk) 09:59, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
- So maybe you can find a more appropriate license tag for this? --VLu (talk) 10:06, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, you are right, this picture should be tagged with Template:PD-UK-unknown plus Template:PD-US-expired. Andrei Romanenko (talk) 10:12, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

- Question a related point: why is "Bratza.jpg" a non-optimal filename? What could go wrong with that? DS (talk) 23:43, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
- Obviously there are other people with this surname (I have created the article about this violinist in my ru.wiki after seeing him mentioned in the article about his son) so possibly it would be better to label this file as "Milan Bratza.jpg". But, honestly, I don't think it matters that much. Andrei Romanenko (talk) 22:21, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- Question: Commons:Deletion requests/File:بير تاسي.jpg – is this a subject for a regular DR or a speedy deletion? --VLu (talk) 07:10, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
- As a copyright violation, the photograph is a subject for speedy deletion. However, this picture is supposedly taken from the pictured person's personal site where we can see no additional copyright information about the authors of photographs: all the site is copyrighted for the singer himself. Thus there is a small chance the uploader can claim copyright for this photo. Andrei Romanenko (talk) 09:39, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
- Question Recently you have created the Category:Katrine Nenasheva. But something important is missing. What exactly? --A.Savin 20:52, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
- I suppose you mean Wikidata Infobox. I have to admit I don't understand how it works here. However, I linked, as I always do, Nenasheva's wikidata page to this category - as far as I know, it means that in a while that infobox will be properly added by Pi bot. Andrei Romanenko (talk) 21:11, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
- It works when you add
{{Wikidata Infobox}}
to category, and in the WD item also link the Commons cat at "other pages" at the bottom (I don't know why it's necessary, though). --A.Savin 21:43, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
