Vielen Dank. Ww2censor (talk) 13:51, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your feedback, Ww2censor! This image is part of a mass upload project of 20th-century photographs by Ernst Klöti, see Category:Ernst Klöti. The images are uploaded in small batches, there will be a total of about 2800 files. The naming scheme at upload is uniformly "Name of the collection + number of digitised image", which makes checks against the library's catalogue easier, but feel free to rename individual pictures if you prefer a different name. For this case, it could be named "Postauto auf der Balmbergstrasse 1959" in German or "Postal car on Balmberg road in 1959" in English. Zentralbibliothek Solothurn (talk)
Ok, so thanks for the fast explanation. Some institutions will add a description as well as their own reference to the title. By including some sort of description in the title is makes finding such images much easier for editors who may not yet have found their categories and are doing simple searches. It's just a thought but I follow your reasoning too. For instance I doubt editors would easily find this image if I was looking for a postbus but if it was something like :File:Zentralbibliothek Solothurn Ernst Klöti 0157 - Postauto auf der Balmbergstrasse 1959.jpg it might be easier. I happened to see it as it got gathered up into a new uploads page I follow that is updated every day. To be honest I have enough to do here, as well as real life, so I doubt I will suggest renaming your images but you might consider the type of naming structure I suggest as it fills your requirement as well as that of editors and coulmd be done before you upload the rest of your images. BTW, thanks for sharing your material, we all appreciate when institutions do that. Thanks again Ww2censor (talk) 15:42, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Categorization

Hello, wondering which Fleischmann this is. Since you were the uploader, you might be able to help. Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk) 17:09, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Lotje: Most likely Friedrich Fleischmann where the image is categorized is correct. It's a steel engraving and that's what Friedrich Fleischmann was famous for; the 1835 publication is also in the fitting time period (he died in November 1834 but, of course, his engravings were also in publication later).
