User talk:Wolley~commonswiki
Hello - thank you for providing images to the wikimedia commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the commons should be useful to all users of wikimedia projects - this is possible only if the images can be found by other people. To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should either place the images on topic pages (galleries), or put the images directly into a category, or do both. Which of those possibilities is preferred is however a matter of debate, see here.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There is a large number of completely unsorted images on the commons right now, see Commons:Really unused. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do! Thank you. -- Duesentrieb 11:33, 23 May 2005 (UTC)
- Danke für den Tipp. Ich hab mich bisher noch nicht mit der Thesaurus-Struktur von commons beschäftigt. Wie hängt man denn Artikel in Kategorien ein? Wolley 11:57, 23 May 2005 (UTC)
This is a photo from ISNA, Iranian Student's News Agency. Please provide a rationale for your claim that the news agency has released this photo to the public domain. Also, you claim that Image:Mashhad3.jpg is a "private photo" although it is clearly waterstamped with ISNA. Please explain your thinking behind this.
Finally, you claim that Image:Mashhad2.jpg is from the dutch Wikipedia, please add your source. I can't find it there. Thuresson 04:07, 23 July 2005 (UTC)
- I was wrong, I didn't got this foto from ISNA and I didn't recogniced the tag. The execution was in public on a crossing, and the report (translated from an iranien source) mentioned not this fact. The second foto came from the esperanto Wikipedia, not from the netherlands one. I changed that. ~~
- When you uploaded the photograph you claimed it was "own photo" which is quite impressive, considering that you are in Berlin. The first photo had a news agency watermark and when I pointed this out you simply uploaded the same photo sans revealing mistake. May I suggest that you take a break from WikiCommons for a while? Thuresson 21:30, 26 July 2005 (UTC)
- As you could see, it is not the same foto. You deleted the wrong foto. The ISNA-foto showed the delinquents with the rope round their necks. My foto showed 30 seconds before, when the gallow-rope wasn't arranged. You (or someone else) deleted the wrong foto. Please undelete it. Perhaps it happend, because one of the different caches showed the old version. When I am now in Germany, that doesnt mean, that I were the last week. (And when your log file shows a proxy in germany, that doesn'm mean that the requesting browser works in at the same place). Nevertheless, you are violating wikipedia rules and laws by publishing personal informations about other persons, without having a permission to do that. May I suggest, that you take a break? Wolley blocked on NL wikipedia by Elly without reason
[edit]Fyi: I just blocked Wolley on NL wikipedia for 1 week, because he kept coming back to the article Mashhad again and again, although I translated his text in Dutch. We could not keep the picture though, because of the notice copyvio on commons. Elly 13:48, 27 July 2005 (UTC)
- That you have translated my text, ist no reason to block my ID on NL. I have corrected you several times about your wrong CRV-hint. Wolley 16:38, 27 July 2005 (UTC)
Image deletion warning | Image:Sacharov.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

Image Tagging Image:Reinhard-Heydrich-Heinrich-Müller.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Reinhard-Heydrich-Heinrich-Müller.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{Cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Hello!
Thank you for providing images to the Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.
To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.
You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on the Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!

File source is not properly indicated: File:Young Igor Kurchatov.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Young Igor Kurchatov.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (
[[:File:Young Igor Kurchatov.jpg]] ).
If you created the content yourself, enter If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Wolley. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Wolley~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
Community Liaison, Wikimedia Foundation
