Image Tagging Image:Egil Nyhus Carl I Hagen.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Egil Nyhus Carl I Hagen.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{Cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? Thank you. --Image deletion warning | Image:Napoleon-Hitler.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

Hi Wolfmann,
though being the illustrator of Image:Nyhus Opp og ut 00.jpg, are you sure the editor does not have exclusive rights over the drawing? --Túrelio (talk) 13:16, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, in this low res version and without the logo of the publishing house it's OK. Wolfmann (talk) 13:18, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. I would recommend to put that in a short note in the description or on talk page of the image, to avoid more questions like mine ;-) --Túrelio (talk) 13:20, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Please help replace this outdated license
Hello!
Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license {{PD}}. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.
The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding {{PD-self}} if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.
Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.

Bots
You are receiving this message because a technical change may affect a bot, gadget, or user script you have been using. The breaking change involves API calls. This change has been planned for two years. The WMF will start making this change on 30 June 2015. A partial list of affected bots can be seen here: https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-l/2015-June/081931.html This includes all bots that are using pywikibot compat. Some of these bots have already been fixed. However, if you write user scripts or operate a bot that uses the API, then you should check your code, to make sure that it will not break.
What, exactly, is breaking? The "default continuation mode" for action=query requests to api.php will be changing to be easier for new coders to use correctly. To find out whether your script or bot may be affected, then search the source code (including any frameworks or libraries) for the string "query-continue". If that is not present, then the script or bot is not affected. In a few cases, the code will be present but not used. In that case, the script or bot will continue working.
This change will be part of 1.26wmf12. It will be deployed to test wikis (including mediawiki.org) on 30 June, to non-Wikipedias (such as Wiktionary) on 1 July, and to all Wikipedias on 2 July 2015.
If your bot or script is receiving the warning about this upcoming change (as seen at https://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages ), it's time to fix your code!
- The simple solution is to simply include the "rawcontinue" parameter with your request to continue receiving the raw continuation data (example <https://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages&rawcontinue=1>). No other code changes should be necessary.
- Or you could update your code to use the simplified continuation documented at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/API:Query#Continuing_queries (example <https://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages&continue=>), which is much easier for clients to implement correctly.
Either of the above solutions may be tested immediately, you'll know it works because you stop seeing the warning.
Do you need help with your own bot or script? Ask questions in e-mail on the mediawiki-api or wikitech-l mailing lists. Volunteers at m:Tech or w:en:WP:Village pump (technical) or w:en:Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard may also be able to help you.
Are you using someone else's gadgets or user scripts? Most scripts are not affected. To find out if a script you use needs to be updated, then post a note at the discussion page for the gadget or the talk page of the user who originally made the script. Europeana 1914-18 collection
Hi Wolfmann,
I noticed that you'd categorised a few of the images that I'd recently uploaded from the http://www.europeana1914-1918.eu collection and was wondering if you'd be interested in had seen the complete project here: Commons:Europeana/Europeana 1914-1918 batch upload. Basically, it is ~800 files from crowdsourced personal collections across Europe of items relating to WWI. Because of the way I had to do this upload, these files are HAND CHOSEN to have a high likelihood of being usable in Wikipedia articles. It's not just a massive dump of pictures, but the ones from Europeana 14-18 that are BOTH freely licensed AND "encyclopedic". Also, because these are crowdsourced items, many of them tell a much more personal kind of story to the things we see from war-museums.
If you're interested in this material, I would very much appreciate if you could have a look at some of the items and perhaps use them in WP articles directly, or help me check their categories and list 'suggested articles'. Sincerely, Wittylama (talk) 13:46, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I apologize for this sounding so nasty but what part of "PLEASE DON'T CATEGORIZE THIS IMAGE AS SOME WILL BE DELETED - I'D RATHER YOU DIDN'T WASTE YOUR TIME CATEGORIZING SOMETHING THAT COULD END UP DELETED, THANKS" did you not understand ?,
The category is there for a reason .....
Secondly adding the category "Yes" is rather pointless don't you think ? .....,
If you see the category then the best thing to do is not categorize it :),

Shell Oil Company

Uansett tusen takk for responsen og bidragene dine her!
- Hej Wolfmann. Tak for dit venlige svar. Venlig hilsen --Rsteen (talk) 07:15, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
