Image Tagging Image:Suomen-sukellusveneet1.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Suomen-sukellusveneet1.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. License of Image:Falkenhorst ja Siilasvuo2.jpg
[edit]I noticed you changed the license into cc-by-sa. What reason do you have to do this? On the basis of The Finnish Defence Forces copyright protected material may be reproduced free of charge but the source of the material must be identified and the copyright status acknowledged. mentioned in the information I changed it to copyrightedfreeuse, which was a mistake, I admit. If the image is under cc-by-sa you should provide an e-mail or such explaining that the Finnish army released this image to you under that specific license. I think that {{Attribution}} is better suited for this image so I changed the license accordingly. NielsF 01:17, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- Right, it was probably because someone recommended me to use some of the cc licences when it's a SA-photo. I went through my album, everything is updated, legal, beautiful, great and categorized!--Ukas 23:07, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? Thank you. --Siebrand 14:16, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
- Sure, have done that already. Image is taken by unknown photographer in 1935, so I used PD old.

Kertoisitko, mistä lehdestä ja mistä numerosta Ossi Holmströmin kuva on kopioitu? Nyt on hankala sanoa, onko kuva vapaa myös Suomessa. --MPorciusCato 14:50, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

- As it says in the description box: I downloaded it from English Wikipedia, where it was posted by user:Bolekpolivka, who claimed: "This work has been released into the public domain by the copyright holder. This applies worldwide. In case this is not legally possible: The copyright holder grants any entity the right to use this work for any purpose, without any conditions, unless such conditions are required by law." I don't have any further information, than what was given to the Engliash Wikipedia by user Bolekpolivka.--Ukas 16:26, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

File tagging File:Falkenhorst_ja_Siilasvuo2.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Falkenhorst_ja_Siilasvuo2.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |
Kam Solusar (talk) 18:02, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
- The photo has very probably been taken in Finland in 1940's. Thus, it falls under {{PD-Finland50}}. I changed the permission tag. However, I'd like you, Ukas, to verify the information and give the source of the photo. --MPorciusCato (talk) 15:43, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
- I agree that PD-Finland50 could apply. But I think every file needs a good source, so we can verify not only the copyright status but also what is shown on it. --Kam Solusar (talk) 22:04, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
- Can't remember at all which book it was. Can be from one of my books or then library. Can't check my books as they are packed as I'm moving in two weeks. Only thing I remember I checked photography list in the book to make sure it's a SA-photo as I do to categorize pictures in my hard drive. --Ukas (talk) 23:20, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Map of the battle of Suomussalmi
[edit]Hello Ukas, the map says that 30 km is what in reality is 3 km. Would it be possible to change that? Calle Widmann (talk) 09:39, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hello Calle, you're quite right! I checked and looks like there was a misprint in one of the maps I used as a source. The book "Suomi sodassa" (Valitut Palat, 1983) has a map with same features on pp. 85, says 30 km - I compared that to google map and no way it's possible, it's either 3 km or very close to it. I'll change it, thank you for pointing this out to me. Just to be sure I read two narratives of the battle to confirm rest of the data is correct, luckily looks like it is --Ukas (talk) 19:09, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
