Image Tagging Image:Olga, tatiana, elizabeth.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Olga, tatiana, elizabeth.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. About Image:Olga, tatiana, elizabeth.jpg
[edit]I've read your warning about this image and tryed to find who the author was, but in this type of pictures it's difficult to know exactly since they were taken more than 100 years ago.
Also, I've just started to use Commons and, to be honest, I didn't understand how can I add a tag to the image, so if you could explain it or try to do it I would be thankful.
Thank you for the warning and please reply soon.

- Sometimes 100 years is not enough. The copyright term in most European countries is the life of the author + 70 years. If the photographer is aged 30 when he takes the picture, and dies at 80, you can make the following calculation : 80 - 30 + 70 = 120 years : more than 100 ! Hello Tuga9890!
Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.
To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.
You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on Commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:
- Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
- State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
- If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
- Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
- Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.
If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.
It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.
You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.
Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.
Thank you.
This message was added automatically by Filbot, if you need some help about it, ask its master (Filnik) or go to the Commons:Help desk. --Filnik 20:35, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
File:Jorge v, esposa e filho eduardo.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Copyright Query
[edit]Dear Tuga,
I am emailing from a documentary company in England called Parthenon Entertainment and we would love to use the following image within our documentary series entitled Mystery Files.
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Dmitri_pavlovich2.jpg File:Dmitri pavlovich2.jpg
We were wondering if you own the copyright to this image as we would like to use it within our documentary for the rights for worlwide, all media and for perpetuity.
If you can email me at: emily.rudge@parthenonentertainment.com or call me on 01923 286 886 that would be great!
Many thanks,
Emily.

[edit]Dear Tuga 9890,
We have attempted to contact you regarding Parthenon’s right to use the Dmitri pavlovich2.jpg as part of our documentary series entitled Mystery Files (and any subsequent reversions) as outlined in our previous emails below.
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Dmitri_pavlovich2.jpg
It is imperative that we have authority from the copyright holder for the use of this archive material and in consideration of that authority, we would be able to pay the copyright holder a nominal fee upon signature of a release form.
The transmission of this series is due to commence shortly and I would be most grateful if you could respond to this email as a matter of urgency to enable us to put in place the necessary documentation.
Kind regards
Emily Rudge

Hi Tuga9890,
why did you add "non-free TV-screenshot" to this image? Anyway, if it's from 1930 and you don't know who is the photographer, you can't be sure it's PD. --Túrelio (talk) 21:20, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Marie_of_Saxe-Altenburg.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (
[[:File:Marie_of_Saxe-Altenburg.jpg]] ).
If you created the content yourself, enter If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

Stop making false claims of "unknown" author. For example File:Princess Marie of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt.jpg and allmost all of your "unknown" uploads: The author is NOT unknown, its only you who not knows the author or is not able to find out the author (or is not worried about the terrible quality and accuracy of his uploads). If you dont know the authors you should try to find them befor uploading and in no case you should make "unknown" claims just because you dont know. --Martin H. (talk) 13:07, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
- It's almost impossible to determine who the author is, especially in photographs. I'm always trying to discover them and every time I do, I update the information If you think it's better for wikipedia to delete them, then go ahead. I'm merely trying to improve the articles and it is the articles who loose, not me. Tuga9890 (talk) 18:03, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Wrong image
[edit]The image File:William, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg.jpg is not of William VI the younger prince of Lüneburg, but it belongs to William-August prince of Harburg, which has image File:WilhelmAugustBraunschweigHarburg.jpg. Both princes are dukes of Brunswick, maybe this is the reason of the misconception. So there are two name files for the same image. You may delete the first one. File tagging File:Friedrich Ferdinand, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Friedrich Ferdinand, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Friedrich Ferdinand, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
