Notification about possible deletion
A page has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this gallery, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

File:World_of_Color_-_Toy_Story.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

File renaming
Hi Themeparkgc. Thanks for helping with file renames. If you haven't done so, please read the corresponding guideline (File renaming). You will notice that the name of acceptable reasons for file renaming is limited and, e.g. "More descriptive" isn't included. Thus File:Sighisoara-Tower-Clock.jpg shouldn't have been renamed. Please make sure to check in the future if your renames are in line with File renaming. -- Docu at 09:07, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
- I have re-read the guideline and will be sure to have it open alongside me when renaming in the future. Thanks. Themeparkgc (talk) 22:51, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
- Perhaps you didn't realize this, but there's actually some debate over whether or not this policy is being correctly applied, or whether it is actually stupid. Ambiguous, uninformative, misleading, and/or confusing names should be amended - why is "Willow.png" the word "Willow" in an unusual font, for instance, instead of a picture of a tree? You should be able to use your brain. Otherwise we get multiple people uploading different images to the same names, and incorrect images being used in articles. Remember: Commons is for the use of humans. DS (talk) 23:29, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
- I've had a read of your talk page and I can sort of see why you lost your file mover rights. If the image name is actually meaningless (i.e. 1234567.jpg or IMG1101) then it could be renamed under the second criteria. However in the case of File:Willow.png the name accurately represents what is shown in the picture. As for Willow being a misleading name, I wouldn't agree. Yes, the primary use of the word willow would be for the tree, however, that is not a valid reason for renaming. There's nothing about renaming ambiguous, uninformative or confusing image names in the guidelines. Themeparkgc (talk) 23:59, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

VHVQP
Hi Themeparkgc,
Minor thing, but the above happens to be the registration of Category:VH-VQP (aircraft). Thus it's not completely meaningless. -- Docu at 05:28, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry about that. I had a quick look over the page and missed the registration so I thought it was meaningless. Themeparkgc Talk 07:49, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
[[File:Flag of Northern Ireland.svg]]
If you look here you will see that this file has been deleted a few times the editor who uploaded it again has a history of tendentious editing on en wiki regarding that flag and it's addition was purely disruptive as it is a duplicate of [[File:Ulster banner.svg]]. Would it be better to ask for its deletion due to it being a duplicate instead of a rename? Thanks for your help.Mo ainm (talk) 08:28, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
- Maybe one of the images could be deleted and then made a redirect to the other. This would stop the any further images being uploaded under the same name. As I am only a file mover, maybe you could ask at the Administrators' noticeboard for further advice/assistance. Themeparkgc Talk 08:44, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, I placed a duplicate tag on it. Mo ainm (talk) 08:45, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Hello Themeparkgc, it may not be explicitly stated that generic filenames should not be used, and should always be renamed, but it is a matter of good sense, and if you follow the Administrators Noticeboard you should know that it is the general practice, mainly to avoid uploads of other files using the same generic name over the original one. In this case, the name is "Flag", which is generic and thus meaningless.-- Darwin Ahoy! 00:19, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Gerstlauer Amusement Rides GmbH Unternehmenslogo.png. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Gerstlauer Amusement Rides GmbH Unternehmenslogo.png]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

You said here that «no valid reason» was given to my rename request, and you went and reverted it. What you mean is that you haven’t the faintest idea how “BS” route diagram icons work (even though File:DDEPu.png was categorized as one such icon). You see, in order for these icons to work (and you can see how File:DDEPu.png was meant to match these, which are mostly used at 20 px high, except for wp:nl) they need not only to be SVGs but also be filenamed BSicon_something.svg
, in urder to be recognized by the diagram-building templates.
I have reverted your reversion, and will probably have a properly named SVG version of this icon before you notice. The fact that the topology and semantics of this particular icon within the set is probably ill-defined and useless makes it all even more interesting.

- I am well aware of the naming conventions for the "BS" series of images. The original file was a PNG file while the requested file extension was SVG. File moving cannot change the file format — this needs to be done with an image editing program separate from Wikimedia. Because of this I rejected the request. If the request was to move it solely based on the naming convention (i.e. to File:BSicon_ENDEa_mask.png), I would have performed the move. Themeparkgc Talk 08:34, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
- If you are aware of the naming conventions for the "BS" series of images, then deleting my original rename request and its rationale (instead of replacing it with a better framed comment oslt) would only have caused this file to go on unnoticed by the people organizing that series.
- Anyway, I made the SVG now — I suppose that deleting the original file will follow automaticly (esp. since it is not in use), or is it necessary to add a deletion request?
- I don't think it will be deleted automatically. If you really want to you could submit a deletion request. Themeparkgc Talk 22:50, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
Gerenuk name change
Many thanks for your correction; my hair stood on end when I read that caption. I have encountered several ridiculous mis-labellings and mis-identifications lately, and it bothers me no end to encounter them solemnly echoed in google, with citations yet! Almost worse is when I feel suspicious, but not sure enough to ask for a correction. If we don't have experts delousing our captions, we certainly should! Cheers JonRichfield (talk) 19:52, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
- In a lot of cases images are moved from other public domain sources to Commons and they keep their original name. This may have been the case here. Glad I could help. Themeparkgc Talk 22:51, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
