Please link images
[edit]
Hello Thegreatdr!
Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.
To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.
You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!

- Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
- State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
- If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
- Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
- Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.
If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.
It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.
You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.
Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.

File:Hazel.gif
[edit]Hi,
I've seen that you added a Paul Kocin as the author of the 1954 analysis File:Hazel.gif. I was wondering how you got this. The only Paul Kocin in Wikipedia is born during the 1950's, was only a toddler in 1954 and made is mark at the Weather Channel. In the web page where the image is from, I did not see any author and the style of the image seems clearly to me from US Weather Bureau vintage 1954 ?
I left a message in your English Wikipedia discussion page, too.

Better source request for Image:Matthew2010filledrainblk.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Matthew2010filledrainblk.gif. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the help desk or me at my talkpage. Thank you. High Contrast (talk) 20:04, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
- Huh? The image source is clearly stated on that page. Look lower. Thegreatdr (talk) 20:12, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
- People don't read: as the tag states: This image has source information, but it either links directly to the image or is a generic base URL, or is not an Internet source for an image that was likely found on the Internet. Source information should be provided so that the copyright status can be verified by others. It is requested that a better source be provided to make determination of the copyright information easier. Please provide a URL to an HTML page that contains this image. This is a problem that can be easily fixed by you. Th curren source is insufficient. --High Contrast (talk) 20:14, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Category for Hurricane
[edit]Hi,
I think you are over categorizing some hurricane images. For instance File:Alicia 17 aug 1983 2116Z.jpg was in category:Hurricane Alicia, a sub-category of 1983 Atlanctic Hurricane Season. There is no need to add Category:1983 Atlantic hurricane season.
I think Category:Satellite pictures of tropical cyclones should be remove too, and category:Hurricane Alicia should fitted with Category:Satellite pictures of hurricanes instead.
Pierre cb (talk) 02:39, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
- I hope you did not think I wanted to criticized your work by my comment. As you mentionned, an image without category is not a good thing but I just wanted to attract your attention that some of the images were not lacking in this regard. Have a good day! Pierre cb (talk) 04:17, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- No need for a rectification : the categories you are refering to (hurricanes and MODIS) use "pictures" instead of "images" in their titles. They are in Category:Satellite pictures of tropical cyclones. Pierre cb (talk) 21:25, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Upload of tropical cyclone images
[edit]Hi:
Thanks for your uploads. I modified the Category:Tropical cyclones to more precised ones (ex. 1963 Atlantic hurricane season for a Hurricane of that year or to a specific Hurricane sub-directory if it exist). I have noticed that you have put the date of those old satellite photos as 2005 which is an impossibility. They may have been inputted into the Mariners Weather log at that time but the real date of the pcture is the original time (ex. A stellite picture from a hurricane in septembre 1963 has to have that date in the field DATE), so I modified that too.
