Hi. For the picture linked above, I'd like to know where you're getting your polling information. New polls from the last week show NC and OH as dead heats, along with Florida as a tie, slightly leaning Obama. Just so you know I'm not pulling this out of my head, I'm getting this info from RealClearPolitics.com. It shows Obama +2.8 in Florida and +2.0 in Ohio. I suggest you update your map to conform with this new polling data. Thanks. 72.9.29.170 20:50, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you read the map description, you will see where the data comes from. However, I think you have a good point. I am going to tweak the algorithm of the map to try to reflect trends better as well as the fact that there are a lot more polls now than when I started the map a good 6 months ago. The Evil Spartan (talk) 00:51, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see now. Thanks for taking my advice. 72.9.29.170 03:27, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Evil Spartan. I have a request/notification for you. RCP now shows Obama with a 10.7% lead in Wisonsin, and a 10.4% lead in New Hampshire. Your description says states polling more than 10% are solid blue/red states, so shouldn't Wisconsin and NH be dark blue, and Nevada medium blue as it's average is Obama +4.2. WV is also McCain +2.4, so shouldn't it be pink? 72.9.29.170 18:47, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I will get back to you later; I have to go to work now. Thanks for the notice; will explain. The Evil Spartan (talk) 18:48, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Latest polls and electoral map

[edit]

Hello there,

I have tried to do the math to the best of my abilites, and I think some shades should be changed. Michigan - Obama has held a large double digit lead over McCain the past week or two and the latest poll sows him up 22 points, and 2 others show him up 16. So should Michigan be changed to the darkest blue? Should Montana be changed to the lightest pink for McCain, due to recent polling. I am a complete noob here so go easy. -Marcusmax (talk) 22:17, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are absolutely correct about both of those. I've made the change, and also changed Indiana and Minnesota. Would you like the spreadsheet? (it makes calculation a lot easier). It would help me from having to update very day. The Evil Spartan (talk) 03:13, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On this subject, Evil Spartan...do you plan to update the map and poll averages every day from now until election day? I strongly suggest that you do, as there will undoubtedly be hundreds of visitors to the election related articles each day, and there are now dozens of new state polls being released every day. For example, on the statewide polling page you have Arizona's average as +14.8 for McCain while the RealClearPolitics average has it at +6.0 McCain. 72.9.29.170 01:56, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I do update it daily or near daily, but honestly, I have a day job, and I can't keep things up to the second like those sites do. Arizona is now at +7.8. The Evil Spartan (talk) 03:15, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
