Sodium Hexethal.svg
[edit]Hi Snubcube, Thanks for creating the image File:Sodium Hexethal.svg. Unfortunately, there is an error in the original .png file that your image is based on. There shouldn't be a covalent bond between the O- and the Na+. Can you please fix it? Thank you. Edgar181 (talk) 23:52, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
- I was wondering about that. It is fixed now. Snubcube (talk) 02:38, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for the quick fix. Edgar181 (talk) 11:24, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 11:37, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you! Do you take requests?--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 16:50, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks. I haven't taken requests, but I could. Snubcube (talk) 00:00, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- These would be fair use, so only for En:WP, not for Commons, is that okay?--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 15:09, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- Sure. I will give it a try. Snubcube (talk) 01:09, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

- Sent you an e-mail.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 16:52, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
Wikimedia Commons does not accept fair use content.
We do this because Commons is a shared media repository. Downstream wikis have different policies based on local laws. Uses that are acceptable under US law, for example, may not be acceptable in many other countries with more restrictive rules. In addition, fair use is not compatible with our aim as a collection of freely distributable media files. Therefore, Commons cannot legally rely on fair use provisions. Non-free content that may be used with reference to fair use may be uploaded locally if your project allows this.

File:Tide type.svg
[edit]@ Snubcube,
that's a nice scheme.
- There are some more interesting tides, such as in Den Helder with a lot of double and some triple high tides or Rotterdam and – nearer to the open sea Hoek van Holland with almost permanent double low tides.
- Some of these phenmoena appear and dissappear in the course of monthly or fortnightly periods.
- Furthermore, there are not only variations of the amplidudes, but also of the intervalls. My map on the tides around North Seamay lead you to some interesting examples.
- Another phenomene is that in estuaries typically the rising time is much shorter than the sinking time, see London Bridge or Bremen
