[edit]What is you reason to delete the first uploaded version of the picture (9th of July) in favour of the second version (12th of July)? You state that the latter has a better name, but I think this is a bit ridiculous, because the only difference is a couple of spaces. I think the first version that was uploaded should be kept. One should always check whether the picture is already uploaded by someone else, which was clearly not done in this case.Magalhães 13:44, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
- Doh. Of course I checked that image was uploaded, that's why I moved it. Images of people should be named after the syntax Firstname_Lastname and not FirstnameLastname, that's why I moved the image to it's correct location. Please stop the edit war. /Slarre 15:29, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
- 1. Can you show me where it says, that you have to use the syntax Firstname_Lastname?
- 2. You did not move the uploaded picture at all. Two people uploaded the same picture (me on the 9th and User:Jebur on the 12th of July). You just changes all links and asked to delete the first uploaded version. Well you should do what you want. I cannot understand it. I think it is a waste of energy to further talk about this, but I also think it is a waste of energy to upload the same file twice. Magalhães 16:44, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
- 1. Can you show me where it says, that you have to use the syntax Firstname_Lastname?
You uploaded this photo and claim it is public domain. The engraver died in 1966 so it is hardly public domain because of age. What is your source for this license status? Thuresson 02:00, 13 August 2005 (UTC)
- As the image description says, my source is Image:Nobel Prize Medal.jpg which is marked as PD. I could only assume that's correct, but if it's not you're welcome to delete it. /Slarre 14:10, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

/Rolf B (talk) 23:34, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

- Nope, Photoshop doesn't handle vector graphics. You can find some links to common free/shareware SVG editors at w:Scalable Vector Graphics#External links. /Slarre 21:09, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi I saw that you added this [1] CSS-thing. As I have not much knowledge of CSS I don't know how it works in detail. Is it your aim to hide a variable if it does not get used? Would be a cool feature if one could hide a certain variable if he does not need it. Arnomane 22:29, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yea, the "hiddenstructure" thing can make fields invisible if they're either empty or not used. See for example Image:Henry Kissinger.jpg where the "other versions" field is empty. More info is at meta:Help:Advanced templates. /Slarre 12:14, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
- Wow this is nice stuff. That way we can avoid the problems other people had with the "other_versions" variable. Thanks a lot. :-) I will investigate this idea a little bit. Arnomane 16:11, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Romania flag.gif
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Romania flag.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you.
Thuresson 21:41, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- Jo, jag får nog göra det. Tack för svaret. /Slarre 23:54, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Howdy. I'm posting this notice here to let you know that I've nominated Template:Norden.org, which you created, for deletion for the following reason: The licensing statement on the Norden.org website states:
- "The photos can be used freely for editorial but not commercial use provided you quote the source (e.g. NN – norden.org)."
This appears to me to be a clear non-commercial license, which are not permitted on Wikimedia Commons. If you disagree or have any other comments, please feel free to join the discussion at Deletion requests. Regards, GeeJo (t)⁄(c) • 11:05, 7 July 2006 (UTC) 11:05, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Vector render issues
[edit]Howdy there, thanks for uploading the nice vector images.
When I was browsing through them I noticed that several of them did not render correctly in the gallery.
- Image:1 5 1572.svg Image:1 8 1 3.svg Image:11 1 1.svg Image:11 1 2.svg Image:11 23 1.svg Image:12 1 1.svg Image:4 3 10.svg Image:9 1.svg
So I looked at the source and saw that they were produced with Illustrator - this is likely to be the problem. For some reason Illustrator seems to (almost always) output SVG files that MediaWiki's renderer cannot handle. Luckily, InkScape seems to produce 'correct' SVG output. Like you I use Illustrator to design all of my vector images, but since finding this bug I've taken to re-saving all of my illustrator SVG's with InkScape before uploading them to the commons - I haven't had any problems since.

Hi Slarre,
If you have such essential information, please don't hide it on the image's talk page, because the image may get deleted (as I did before I discovered the talk page). I included a note that the permission can be found on the talk page. If you upload any files like that please also integrate that information
thanks --D-Kuru (talk) 15:36, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hi. I uploaded that image some 3 years ago when there were not any OTRS system or guidelines for how to provide e-mail permissions. I'll of course use the OTRS if I upload more images like that. /Slarre (talk) 20:47, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Axel_Oxenstierna_4.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Axel_Oxenstierna_4.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.
Thank you. Critically evaluate Flickr licenses | File:Zlatan Ibrahimović.jpg has been marked as a copyright violation. You may have preserved the information shown on Flickr correctly when transferring the image here, but the Flickr uploader is not the copyright holder of this image. Either the image was created by someone else, or it is a derivative of someone else's work. As stated in Commons:Licensing, only the copyright holder may issue a license, so the one shown on Flickr is invalid.
Always remember to critically evaluate Flickr licenses. Photostreams with professional-looking photographs, album covers, posters, and images in a wide range of styles or quality taken by many different cameras often indicate that the Flickr uploader either does not understand or does not care about copyright matters.

Please help replace this outdated license
[edit]Hello!
Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license {{PD}}. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.
The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding {{PD-self}} if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.
Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.
The images we would like you to check are:

File:Johan Norberg.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

File tagging File:Camilla Lindberg.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:Camilla Lindberg.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Camilla Lindberg.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Slarre. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Slarre~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
Community Liaison, Wikimedia Foundation
