Hello, Rani nurmai!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Toramana

[edit]

Hi! Can you confirm if these are coins of Toramana with your reading (not very clear for me): [1] [2] [3] पाटलिपुत्र (talk) 12:31, 23 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I only just saw this message. Only the third coin is of Toramana. The inscription on that coin reads jaya shahi tora. See
Pankaj Tandon: “The Coins and History of Toramāṇa,” in Touraj Daryaee and Judith A. Lerner with Virginie Rey (eds.) Dinars and Dirhams: Festschrift in Honor of Michael L. Bates, University of California at Irvine, Jordan Center for Persian Studies, 2020, pp. 269-282.

The first coin is of a king named Bharana; the legend on the coin reads jayatu bharana.
The second coin is of a king named Vaisravana; the legend on the coin reads shahi vaisravana la... Rani nurmai (talk) 14:19, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Other coins

[edit]

Dear Rani nurmai,

You seem to be owning the copyrights for some coin images I would be very interested in, for example Diodotos I (as king) Pantaleon Agathokles Hippostratos Abhiraka, Bhumaka Nahapana Damazada II Rudrasena I Satyadaman. Would you agree to upload them on Wikipedia, so that we can use them in article? पाटलिपुत्र (talk) 13:18, 23 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Issue resolved

[edit]

Thank you for pointing out the mis-attribution of the Mihirakula coin. Problem resolved, as the files have now been renamed, and the images corrected in the articles. Thank you again!! पाटलिपुत्र (talk) 20:29, 23 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
