The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files which can be used for any purpose, including:

• use in any work, regardless of content
• creation of derivative works
• commercial use
• free distribution

See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on the Wikimedia Commons. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on the Wikimedia Commons: "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.

Please make sure that you only upload works you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial to understanding how the Wikimedia Commons works. Hi again. Could you please clarify your description of this picture? You state this is your own postcard. Do you mean that you're the photograph whose pictures were used to create the postcard, or that you are the owner of the postcard? In the latter case, we cannot keep this picture on Commons: it would infringe rights of the photograph. You may want to read Commons:Derivative works, which explains all of this at length. Commentaar op foto's

U citeert in de beschrijving een paragraaf betreffende de zgn. panoramavrijheid. Dit houdt in dat het maken van een foto van een auteursrechtelijk beschermd werk dat permanent geplaatst is, geen inbreuk op het auteursrecht is van de architect van het object. Echter, het uploaden van foto's van de betreffende objecten kan een inbreuk zijn op het auteursrecht van de fotograaf. Ik heb derhalve de foto's verwijderd. Indien u kunt bewijzen dat de afbeeldingen onder een vrije licentie vrij zijn gegeven, kan ik dit ongedaan maken.

Verder vereisen wij voor elke afbeelding die u niet zelf gemaakt hebt dat er een bronbeschrijving bij zit, zodat wij de auteursrechtelijke status van het werk kunnen verifiëren. Betreffende Image:Vennenbos.jpg, Image:Centerparcs bouwaankondiging.jpg en Image:Spijkenisserbrug wide.jpg. Hebt u deze zelf met eigen camera genomen, of ingescand of dergelijke? Wees ervan op de hoogte dat het inscannen van een afbeelding u geen rechten schenkt, en dat de volledige auteursrechten van de scan bij de oorspronkelijke rechthebbende rusten. -- Bryan (talk to me) 19:11, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
