I have just made my first "contribution" to the French Wikipedia, see [1] - then I realized that there is a very active french administrator in the commons: you!  :) - Is this Atlas still copyrighted? 40 uncategorized mathematical formulas

Good morning Pruneau, I found about 40 uncategorized files with mathematical expressions and symbols from Javier Marino, here [2]. As far as I see they are unused. Looks like data for a project that did not realize at the end. Useful? (You are a mathematician.) In general, you can follow the instructions at Commons:Deletion requests/Mass deletion request, but I often prefer to nominate a single file for deletion using the toolbox link, then edit the deletion request to add other files to it; you can also copy-paste the template from the first image page on to other image pages to indicate that the files are up for deletion: the links will work. In this case, I don't think it's necessary to add yet another entry to the deletion requests page: all but 2 or 3 of this user's upload's have clear licensing issues. They are listed as own work but the only licence is {{PD-Vietnam}} (the requirement for which is that the author died 50 years ago). Either the files are the uploader's work, in which case they need to explicitly but them under a free licence, or the files are the work of a Vietnamese person who died 50 years ago, in which case the source is missing. I would tag all files with {{Subst:npd}}. If you don't do it, I'll do it in a couple of days. Best, Pruneau^talk 15:24, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Et merci pour le coup de main. Du coup je suis allé lire ta page user, je ne te connaissais pas auparavant. J'ai tilté sur le fait que tu t'intéresses particulièrement aux fichiers concernant les personnes notables, connues. C'est super, c'est aussi un truc qui me bote. Je suis au conseil d'administration de WikimediaCH et j'y suis actif notamment pour ce qui concerne les accréditations presses. Je commence à avoir du succès dans nos demandes. J'ai eu des autorisations pour des matchs de hockey et de foot en première ligue (en Suisse). Fin de l'été, nous avons eu une autorisation de l'UCI pour les championnats du monde de cyclisme. On s'est fait un dossier de presse Wikimedia si ça peut t'intéresser...

De rien ! C'est cool que Wikimédia commence à avoir des accréditations : je trouve qu'une photo fait une grosse différence dans un article sur une personnalité. Quand j'aurai un peu plus de temps libre, je me lancerai peut-être aussi dans la recherche d'accréditations avec Wikimédia Francea, auquel cas je suis sûr que ton expérience pourra être utile ! Hello Pruneau, thanks for your hints concerning deletion above - other case, please look here Commons:Deletion requests/File:Chesimard jd5.jpg - I have found this file in the realm of the uncategorized, and added it to the english WP - obviously the license was erroneous, someone deleted the license and took it out from the english wp - and I think he was right. Bonjour, Commons n'accepte que des fichiers qui sont sous une licence libre. Le logo de l'ENSG est protégé par des droits d'auteur ; en tant que tel, il ne peut pas être téléchargé sur Commons. Si vous le retéléchargez, il sera de nouveau supprimé. Par contre, il sera toléré sur la Wikipédia française, tant que vous incluez le modèle fr:Modèle:Logo sur la page de description. decreasing number of uncategorized files

Hello Pruneau, your counter for the uncategorized files is very useful - did you notice, that the number is steadily decreasing in the last three weeks (about) !!?? (Before that it rose from 113.000 to 116.000 mostly by an import). There seem to be several people active in the "categorization-business". I thought about installing a (half-joking) "Cats-Association", for this users, I know two colleagues who can design a logo with a cat. Best wishes to France or Oxford... Hello Cholo, It's really great to see the number of uncategorized files go down. I'm eager to see it go under 100,000! The number on my user page is actually slightly off, for various reasons (but it's a good approximation, which is why I've left it). For an exact count, you can use User:Multichill/Categorization stats which is updated twice a day. If you create a categorizer union, I'll definitely join, even though I am not available to spend as which time as I would like on Commons these days. by the way: You are interested in notable people - I just found the uploads of Allan Warren, see Category:Allan Warren - politicians , Hollywood Stars and really great images. I think there are several images which are not really well-used until now. Hello Pruneau, I am just reading a German book Klaus Roth "Chemische Köstlichkeiten" (ISBN 9783527327522), a part about the Stradivari(-myth): the author uses your image of the "Messias"-Stradivari from the Ashmolean museum. Klaus Roth makes intensive use of the commons - all articles were published in the Journal "Chemie in unserer Zeit" before, if you have access to this journal you can download all materials. astonishingly the number fell below 100.000 - unfortunately, as far as I see, about 30 percent of all files are not properly categorized, so this is only the tip of the iceberg. The logo of my still planned categorization-association will be the Titanic, not a cat :)) - did you manage to get the book? - if not, I can send you the article from the journal. Mislabelled image

Hi. I note you recently uploaded File:Julie Maxton.jpg. This is a photo I took (it's my flickr account) but identified wrongly - it's not Maxton. There was an earlier copy on commons, deleted here.
