Goodies, tips, and tricks Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities. You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads. Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Okay, thanks for the sothebys link. Yeah I know that other Charles Temple Dix picture (here) is blurry in the second version - but there was apparently some sort of hidden digital watermark in the first one and I thought it prudent to replace it, even though the replacement is poorer quality. The long and pompous EXIF data of the original image states: "This image is protected with a secure invisible digital watermark that allows the Public Catalogue Foundation to identify unauthorized use of the image." It all sounds pretty stupid to me - it's only an 800x520 pixel image afterall. There's no overt indication on the BBC's website that their paintings might be protected in this way. But since a "secure invisible digital watermark" might I suppose be under copyright, I thought I'd better use the blurry alternative. Pasicles (talk) 20:25, 27 February 2013 (UTC)

Please don't overwrite existing images with cropped versions. Full-size images may still be useful so you should always upload a cropped image as a new file. Regards, De728631 (talk) 19:01, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

Curious, I've never seen this one before. You're right of course, but I've seen lots and lots of cropping of images going on commons without anyone ever reverting like this. It's such a shame the "derivative file" tool on Commons:Upload, is no longer available - that used to make life a lot easier when uploading alternative versions. Just out of interest - what if I wanted to lighten an image or some other minor adjustment, would I have to upload a new file then? Pasicles (talk) 19:08, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

Why ?

Why do you deleted this category ? This category is for the collection where the bust is located and at the same time the category of the provenance of this bust. --DenghiùComm (talk) 05:31, 15 March 2019 (UTC)

I've no idea why I deleted it - certainly not intentional! Something must have gone wrong when I was house-cleaning the Seneca pages. Thanks for reverting it! Pasicles (talk) 18:00, 15 March 2019 (UTC)
