Image uploads
[edit]Many of your image uploads, here and on the English Wikipedia have not complied with the policies. Please take your time to familiarise yourself with these. I appreciate that this can be quite complex but images copied from websites can only be used in very limited circumstances. Wikimedia Commons only accepts images licensed under free licences. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you are struggling. If you would like you are welcome to ask me to review any potential uploads as to whether they are appropriate to help you understand the policies and to prevent your images repeatedly getting deleted. Regards. Adambro 12:09, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Moving images from Wikipedia
[edit]It seems you are still having trouble with uploading images. For example, you uploaded Image:Centrale.jpg and tagged it as been released under GFDL and Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike however looking at the Wikipedia page it appears this isn't the case. Please be very careful if you are going to transfer images from Wikipedia as it is important that the details are preserved. I'll fix the images you've uploaded to date but ask that you take care in future to ensure you're doing it properly. Please do not move images from Wikipedia unless you are familiar with the relevant procedures and policies, especially Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons. Once again I would invite you to discuss uploading images with me if you continue to have difficulties. Regards. Adambro 20:26, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Another note about your image uploads
[edit]Scanning documents which contain artists impressions do not give you the right to release the images under any free licence, the original creator of the artist impression retains the copyright. I am afraid I must delete any other your image uploads where they are likely to be copyright violations. Adambro 15:53, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Image deletion warning | Image:Associatednewspapers.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

Copyright violations
[edit]
Hello Pafcool2,
You have uploaded several images that are copyright violations and you have done so despite our requests not to do so, and despite our instructions. If you do not stop uploading pictures that are not free, your account will be blocked. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on the Wikimedia Commons. Please do leave me a message if you have further questions. -- Infrogmation 03:01, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

- This also applies to Image:Mail on Sunday.JPG. Please read Commons:Licensing and Commons:Derivative works. —LX (talk, contribs) 21:28, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
You have been blocked for a duration of one week

- Seeing as you have several valuable contributions, I don't want to be overly harsh. I reduced it to three days, which should give you enough time to read Commons:Licensing and Commons:Derivative works. If you have any questions, please ask on this page. —LX (talk, contribs) 21:30, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
Photo timestamps
[edit]I note a number of your photos include a date/time stamp. This detracts from the photo and so I'd suggest that if possible you disable this feature or use a different camera if that isn't possible. Regards. Adambro 16:36, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- It's OK i've disabled the stamp, it was only for a couple of photos. Pafcool2 16:27, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 12:50, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

Copyright status: File:UrbanLabLogo.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:UrbanLabLogo.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |
