Copyright violations
Hello Onlymyself65536,
You have uploaded several files that are copyright violations and you have done so despite our requests not to do so, and despite our instructions. If you do not stop uploading pictures that are not free, your account will be blocked. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Image casebook useful. Please leave me a message if you have further questions. Martin H. (talk) 18:08, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 06:02, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Angel hong.gif. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:Image:Angel hong.gif ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

No, you are not the photographer. You need the photographers written permission that everyone can reuse the image for every purpose including commercial use. See Commons:First steps. If you dont have the photographers written permission you can not upload the image here. Uploading images to your blog does not make you the photographer or give you the copyright. --Martin H. (talk) 06:22, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, it must be a photograph you created entirely by yourself. See Commons:第一步 (正體中文)/選擇許可協議 (hope thats your language?). --Martin H. (talk) 06:37, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Your contributions show me that you are not willings to contribute here inside the projects licensing policy. Furthermore you tried to trick Commons with manipulation of EXIF data, that not acceptable. See File:Angel hong2.JPG for further evidence. Commons excuses mistakes like maybe your first uploads, but not lies. --Martin H. (talk) 20:56, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Is that a joke? This is an image you copied from a random website - ok, you provided the source to the website - with a random license, you selected the free art license.
Again, in simple words: Content on Commons must be free, free to use by everyone for every purpose including commercial use. The copyrigth holder must agree to this terms. The copyright holder is, in most cases, the photographer or the photographers employer. To upload an image here you need a written permission from the copyrigth holder that he agrees to free reuse under a free license. In this case you not even know the copyright holder and you not have any piece of written text that says, that the copyright holder published this photo under the free art license. Didnt you read Commons:First steps? Commons:First steps/License selection is clear and easy here, have a look at the image File:Decision Tree on Uploading Imagesv2.svg there: image is not 100 years old, you not created it yourself, the owner of rights is not known -> do not upload....!
Stay at File:Decision Tree on Uploading Imagesv2.svg and lets have a look back to your only correct upload so far: File:Rabit zheng.jpg. Also this image is not 100 years old, it is not your own work, the author is known (Patrick Hsu), the author of course not died 70 years ago, and did the copyright owner agreed to a free license? Yes, he did, he published the image on flickr under the terms of the cc-by-2.0, that license allows for modification and commercial reuse by everyone as long as the author is attributed.
I have little confidence that you understand it now. Please read Commons:First steps again carefully, it is also available in Chinese. --Martin H. (talk) 01:31, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Whats so difficult? Just because someone uploads an image from some random website under a wrong license - does this give you the permission to do so too? No. The next example: Someone uploads an image from some random website, you want do to so too, lets speak again to this instrcutional image:
- The picture is not >100 years old
- It is not created by yourself
- The copyright holder is maybe unknown and maybe known. Lets assume the first uploder did provide the correct copyright holder.
- So the copyright holder is known
- He is not dead for 70 years
- And now the important question: Did the owner agrees to YOUR upload?? NO he didnt, you not even asked!!
- Do not upload.
- Whats so difficult? Please ask questions here, I dont want a new question on my talkpage every day. My talkpage is not your personal help desk. If you not even understand the very, very basic rules (who is the copyright holder, can I do something with other peoples property without their permission?) you should think if this is the right place for you. Do not copy any images from random websites without prior written permission. --Martin H. (talk) 10:10, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

If you want to upload photos from Flickr to Commons, please search with Flickr free. That finds only Flickr photos which have a license suitable for Commons (cc-by or cc-by-sa). Then you can use Flinfo to get the information you need to paste into the basic upload form. --Teratornis (talk) 19:56, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
