Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which information may be missing. Thank you. Siebrand 11:33, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Manca d'informació amb el fitxer Image:Memòria_Històrica_entre_la_ideologia_i_la_justícia.jpg
[edit]
Panorama template
[edit]Hi!
Thanks for adding File:Napoli da Castel Sant Elmo.jpg, it's a lovely image! I just wanted to point you to en:Template:Panorama for images like that---it's a good idea to use that template, at least on those Wikipedias where it's available... Thanks! Morn the Gorn (talk) 14:05, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

- This concerns images of art by Slavko Pengov. They're beautiful photographs, and I'm sorry to have to bring them up for review. I'm just afraid that there are underlying copyright concerns that must be evaluated given the date and placement of the art. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:59, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Slavko Pengov
[edit]I do not understand why you have eliminated my photos of Pengov's paintings in Bled, in Žale and in the Parliament House of Slovenia. I have made these photos myself and I have dedicated a lot of my time to recover the work of this slovenian artist. I am very dissapointed with this violation of my work. --Oliver-Bonjoch (talk) 22:02, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hi. I'm sorry for your disappointment; I wish we had another option, but I'm afraid that legally we cannot keep them. As explained at Commons:Deletion requests/Art by Slavko Pengov, Pengov's work is still under copyright, which means that legally we cannot make copies of them and publish them without permission from Pengov's estate. The country where they are hanging Oliver-Bonjoch (talk) 23:42, 24 May 2011 (UTC)does not have an exception for publicly displayed artworks. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 22:33, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
- There are a lot of photos of contemporary artists in Wikipedia. So all this photos have permission? Pengov's paintings in the Parliament House belong to the people of Slovenia, and the painting in Žale is outside, in a public place. Who owns the rights of Pengov's work? There are no books of Pengov's paintings anywhere. So I am the only one doing the work of getting to know Pengov's genius around the world. --Oliver-Bonjoch (talk) 22:47, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
- I'm sorry. They are beautiful pictures, and the articles that had them are the worse for losing them. But this is a legal reality, and there is nothing we can do about it. We are required to abide by the coypright policies of the Wikimedia Foundation and the various projects it hosts. There are some exceptions permitted for "fair use" images on Wikipedia, but images hosted on Commons must be licensed for reuse or free of copyright. To see Wikipedia's "fair use" policies, please visit Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Non-free content. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 23:10, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't delete any of your work; I brought the copyright problems for review. I notified you when I did so. After a due period of time, they were deleted by a Commons administrator because they do not meet Commons policies. I'm sorry that this is such a disappointment to you, but, again, this is a legal matter; we cannot change the copyright laws. It is not Commons' policy to wait for complaint from copyright owners; copyrighted content that is not properly licensed is removed when it is discovered. See Commons:Project scope/Precautionary principle and Commons:Project scope#Must be freely licensed or public domain. I realize that this must be quite a blow; you obviously believed that the pictures were free for you to photograph and publish. I'm sorry that this doesn't seem to be the case. Some countries do permit photographers to take pictures of paintings in museums, but not all do. You may be able to use some of the images on individual Wikipedia policies; as I pointed out, English language Wikipedia does permit limited unfree pictures under some circumstances. Other language Wikipedias also have these "exemption doctrines". Commons does not; it is not permitted to by the Wikimedia Foundation, which runs these websites. See WMF:Resolution:Licensing policy. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 23:59, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
No tens raó i ho saps. Ja n'hi ha prou!--Oliver-Bonjoch (talk) 07:33, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
- I'm sorry that you feel that way. Copyright law is what it is, and I have linked you to the relevant policies and practices on Commons created to keep the project within that law. Just to further clarify, the Terms of Use linked above the "edit summary" each time you edit a page includes the following:
- Non-text media on Wikimedia Foundation projects are available under a variety of different licenses that support the general goal of allowing unrestricted re-use and re-distribution. The requirements for such licenses are given in the Wikimedia Foundation Licensing Policy. Individual communities may elaborate upon and refine these requirements.
- That licensing policy says (emphasis added)
- All projects are expected to host only content which is under a Free Content License, or which is otherwise free as recognized by the 'Definition of Free Cultural Works' as referenced above.
- In addition, with the exception of Wikimedia Commons, each project community may develop and adopt an EDP. Non-free content used under an EDP must be identified in a machine-readable format so that it can be easily identified by users of the site as well as re-users.
- Wikimedia Commons is only permitted to host freely licensed or public domain content. It is not able to host copies of copyrighted artworks unless they are taken in an area that has an exception for publicly displayed artworks.
- In terms of appealing to a higher authority, I see that User:Vriullop has explained your options. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 10:48, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
--V.Riullop (talk) 08:26, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
Tanmateix, moltes gràcies pel teu missatge.--Oliver-Bonjoch (talk) 08:31, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
No ets l'únic
--Josep Xicota (talk) 05:09, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Source of derivative work is not properly indicated: File:Srce Jezusovo. Stained glass window.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Srce Jezusovo. Stained glass window.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

[edit]Dear Oliver-Bonjoch, I am a Prof. in Architectureand I am currently redacting a book titled “History of Interior Design and Furniture” and it will be published in Turkish edition. I would like to use your image from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durham_Cathedral#/media/File:Durham_Cathedral._Interior.jpg. At the end of the book, the name of the beholder of the image is noted in ‘Picture Credits.’ Best regards, Mustafa Demirkan mustafaemindemirkan@gmail.com --hippofish 14:27, 11 July 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Serhatakbak (talk • contribs) 14:27, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Foto Anton Cañellas.JPG. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Foto Anton Cañellas.JPG]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
