Reminder
[edit]Hi Nintendofan885. I noticed that you've made a malformed deletion request. When you want to delete a file by manually using the {{Delete}} template, please remember to follow the instructions in the template, including the "Click here to show further instructions" portion, otherwise you will create a lot of work for other people. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 05:30, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Business Meeting on a Report Recommending that the House of Representatives Cite Stephen K. Bannon for Criminal Contempt of Congress.webm. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

File:Marszałek Artur Kosicki (cropped).jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

- @Masur: Oh yeah. I cropped it and realised the original image was questionable a while later but forgot to tag it. Thanks for tagging! --Nintendofan885T&Cs apply 11:01, 14 May 2023 (UTC)

- @Masur: Looks like you might've forgot to tag it. I also find it a bit weird you didn't notify the the original uploader as I only cropped it. --Nintendofan885T&Cs apply 11:01, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
- Something misfired here. Sorry. Masur (talk) 09:50, 16 May 2023 (UTC)

un-archiving archived page
[edit]https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Commons:Structured_data/Get_involved/Feedback_requests/Depicts&diff=875149588&oldid=781428226: what is your intent here? Do you want to revive this page? If so, do you intend to monitor it? - Jmabel ! talk 18:31, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
- Similarly for Commons:Structured data/Get involved/Feedback requests/Depicts, Commons:Structured data/Get involved/Feedback requests/Statements, Commons:Structured data/Get involved/Feedback requests/Properties for Commons. - Jmabel ! talk 18:33, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
@Jmabel: I wasn't unarchiving them. I just recategorizing them to Category:Feedback requests for Structured Data on Commons which itself is under Category:Archived pages about Structured Data on Commons due to them all being archived (because the team is defunct) and it's unnecessary to have them in the archive category if they're also in the subcat. --Nintendofan885T&Cs apply 19:08, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
- It would have been useful for your edit summary to give some indication of that, even something like "more specific category". - Jmabel ! talk 21:56, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Jmabel: Ah sorry. I used HotCat rather than editing manually so it used its default edit summary instead of giving you the option to set one. (AFAIK anyway) --Nintendofan885T&Cs apply 22:06, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
- FWIW, one of many reasons I like Cat-a-lot better. But that's an entirely reasonable explanation. - Jmabel ! talk 02:15, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

Categories need parent categories
[edit]Thank you for creating a new category or categories. When creating new categories as you did at Category:QElectroTech, please try to include one or more parent categories:
- All categories should be a subcategory of another category.
- For categories about specific people, this would generally include
[[Category:People by name]]
- See Commons:Categories, especially How to create a new category.
Categories that lack parent categories appear on one of these reports:
Please make sure your categories aren't in these reports by adding at least one category to them.
Thank you. (This is a standardized talk page message)
