ItalyDefense images
[edit]Hi Nevfennas, I found some images which were uploaded by you after May 23rd, 2006. Unless you can find (i.e. in archive.org) that these images had previously been released in the PD by the Ministero della Difesa, they will have to be proposed for speedy deletion, because that was the last evident date in which the content of www.difesa.it was expressely licensed as free. These images are:
- Image:RNGiulioCesare1914.jpg, uploaded 19:40, 27 ago 2006
I have to underline that even if some of them could probably fall in the so-called PD-Italy, that kind of PD is not recognised on Commons, so we need to find evidences that these images had been directly released in the PD by the MdD, as described in the Template:ItalyDefense, or they will have to be deleted. In case you find archived versions of the webpages which you found them in, please add links and/or details. This is specially important for drawings. Thank you for your kind cooperation. --Gianfranco 02:17, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Image deletion warning | Image:HSK_Kormoran_(AWM_053867).jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. |

Australian War Memorial website
[edit]Please stop uploading pictures from this source! WWII pictures from there are copyrighted and their license is too restrictive for the files to be hosted on Commons. Thanks! --Eusebius (talk) 11:55, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hum, I've deleted a few of these pictures, but I will take some time later to examine thoroughly your uploads. I'm afraid every picture from the AWM must be deleted, but I'll request the opinion of other admins, since most of the original pictures (but not the uploaded ones) are PD-Australia. You'll be advised so you can take part in the discussion, of course. Cannot do that today. Regards, --Eusebius (talk) 12:04, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
The source-page [1] says explicitly: Copyright: Copyright expired - public domain Copyright holder: Copyright Expired Nevfennas (talk) 12:09, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, the original picture is in public domain. But the image you upload is a derivative work, with watermarks, on which the AWM has rights, and they have disclosed it with a non-commercial license. So you could upload the original picture if you have it, but not the modified version. This is how I understand this little legal puzzle, but like I've said I will request other admins' interpretation. --Eusebius (talk) 12:19, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- I have launched a discussion. You may want to expose your point of view there. --Eusebius (talk) 12:43, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- End of discussion: pictures are OK, {{PD-Australia}} applies. --Eusebius (talk) 21:52, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the Info. Nevfennas (talk) 22:35, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
