Image deletion warning | Template:Politicalposter has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

Euro coins
[edit]Why are you uploading smaller version of images? Herr Kriss 16:50, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- Because of the proportionality between the coins. For example, the 1-cent coins shouldn't be of the same size as the 2-euro coins. In a gallery (for example: http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgiska_euromynt) it looks very strange if all coins, independent of denomination, are equal in size. Don't you think?
- Glentamara 17:00, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- But you made many coins photos smaller, so you made it worse. I think that the best solution is making gallery in table with correct sizes using [[Image:, not with <gallery>. Herr Kriss 17:22, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- PS:If you answer then do it on my page, it's how we talk on Commons. In this way i'll see orange box with notification about new message. Herr Kriss 17:23, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

- Its how some people talk on Commons. Other people, like myself, prefer to keep a conversation in one place, and to watch our watchlists. — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 17:32, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- That's why we have size modifiers on images. Please see m:Help:Magic words#Size for details on that and m:Help:Table for details on making tables of images that are similar to what <gallery> produces (but more appropriate for coin sets), and stop uploading smaller version of images per Commons:First steps/Quality and description#Images. Thanks! — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 17:32, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Hello Nablicus/Archive 1!
Thank you for providing images to the Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.
To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.
You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on the Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!
Thank you. — Manecke 15:49, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Image:Lisbon Treaty Ratification Map.svg
[edit]Hello,
Image:Lisbon Treaty Ratification Map.svg
Poland hasn't yet ratificated ratified the Treaty. Only our Parliament did agree that President shall ratificate ratify it, but he hasn't signed it yet. So Poland should not be dark green, but light green.

Ratification maps
[edit]I don't understand why you made these maps: Image:Treaty of Accession 2005 Ratification Map.svg, Image:Treaty of Nice Ratification Map.svg -when both were fully ratified long before they were made. They are they intended to show? Thanks.- J Logan t: 19:36, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
- The maps are used in articles [1] and [2]. These are useful to show what countries that have ratified the treaties, just as with the Treaty of Lisbon. Any problems? --Glentamara (talk) 19:57, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not complaining or say they should be taken down, its just odd you'd create a ratification map when there is no difference in ratification. I think it is taken that it is ratified by all the members as it came into force, so it doesn't really clear anything up for the reader. In fact there may be a problem in that subsequent members would have ratified it via their accession treaties - not just the 15.- J Logan t: 10:27, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

EU maps
[edit]Hi! First of all thanks for your nice maps of the European Union. But there is one single point of criticism: In this and some others of your maps, the EU-member Malta is missing completely. Would be nice, if this could be solved, because your svg-maps are chiefly the most high-grade ones. Best wishes, --Tafkas (talk) 18:28, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- I will fix it tomorrow, when I got time. Best regards --Glentamara (talk) 19:32, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 14:03, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

colours in Schengenzone.svg
[edit]Hi Glentamara, As a regular maintainer of this map, could I ask that you change the colours, please? In thumbnail form, it is very difficult to distinguish between the non-EU members and the EU planned members. I don't see why you have to use blue so much: the UK and Ireland have distinguished colours, so why not the rest? How about using yellow for the the non-EU members, for example? (and pale blue and grey are too similar too - the status of Cyprus is most unclear vis a vis Turkey). --Jon Maynard Friedman (talk) 22:45, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- I have now changed the color of the EU member states that not participate yet. --Glentamara (talk) 08:02, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit]He Glentamara, There is a discussion on Talk:Eurozone on your image (especially if the turkish part of cyprus should be in). As in the text and the other 2 figures there it is clear that that part is not in (yet?), would it be possible to change the figure (and/or to contribute to the discussion there?) Once again File:ICCmemberstatesworldmap102007.png
[edit]Hi Glentamara!
Could you be again add a country to the map of ICC member states. The Seychelles have ratified the Rome Statute yesterday [4] (10 August 2010), it will enter into force for the Seychelles on 1 November 2010. I'm not fully sure whether it is appropriate for the Seychelles to be marked in dark green as of now (although I think so because they have become a member state pending coming into force) but I wanted to raise your awareness for this to be done at the time you see fit. Thanks for doing that. Unfortunately, I can't do it myself as I am not underway very often at Commons and don't have the rights necessary to upload a file. Greetings. --141.35.14.94 13:31, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
File:CFA_franc_zone.svg
[edit]Hi!
In this map of the West-African CFA-region http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datei:CFA_franc_zone.svg, Guine-Bissau (between Senegal and Guine-Conacry) is not marked as a member of the CFA-ECOWAS region, which is wrong. Since 1998 or so, that country has the CFA-Franc as currency, e.g. see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:CFA_Franc_map.svg May you change that? Otherwise i could try to do that, but i've no experience with wiki-images and don't wanna get confused with any "copyright" issues. Thanks a lot! Zebaba (talk) 05:36, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Copyright status: File:10 cent coin Lv serie 1.png
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:10 cent coin Lv serie 1.png. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Source needed
[edit]Hi! I was looking at the article about the Euro and saw . I am sure that there has been made many polls about this subject, but it is also normal that results vary from poll to poll. Recently, a small majority in Denmark was against the Euro (source in Danish), so it would be nice if you could provide this illustration with a sources to the data, or at least update the colours to reflect the results of the recent opinion polls (and of course provide a link). Thanks :-) --Masz (talk)
- As the file name reveals, the data is from the Eurobarometer 69. --Glentamara (talk) 17:06, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
- By the way, here is another file related to the euro opinion in Denmark.
Please give images good descriptions
[edit]
Please give some thought to writing a good description of uploaded images. This ensures that they can be used. It also helps those that review and improve categories do a better job, which also ensures that images will get used in novel and interesting ways. Thanks, and happy editing!
