Thank you for providing images to the commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on the commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:

 • Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
 • State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly.
 • If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
 • Add a Copyright tag - images without a appropriate license tag will be deleted.
 • Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate Categories, so it can be found by others.

If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki.

It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.

Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more Information, have a look at Commons:Licensing, Commons:criteria for inclusion and the Community Portal. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the village pump. Thank you. -- Duesentrieb 16:25, 12 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I used the image from the World Flag Database. Denelson83 22:42, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, my 2005 World Almanac and Book of Facts shows the DR Congo flag with a dark blue colour. And a Google Image Search shows a split between using light blue and dark blue for the DR Congo flag, so I think the government of the DR Congo could care less which blue you use, and I happen to prefer the dark blue. Deletion of images

[edit]

When you replace an image by a red "X" because you are playing with your new svg-toy, can you please be so polite to fill in the link to the replacement file in the template? This helps others to clean up the mess you created. Thank you - Quistnix 06:12, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

All very nice that you're placing templates to direct ppl to the new images. it would be handy however if they happened to be filled in completely, like containing the name of the new image!

Answer

[edit]

SORRY! I'm sorry I didn't spend the proper time reading all the instructions about redundant images and the deletion (which I'm not supposed to do actually). I just read and acted upon the red "Caution" box from Category:Redundant. Maybe the box should be more explicit, i.e. stating that the IMAGE and USER arguments should be given and the USER should be a sysop.

btw why do we tend to be so aggressive on Commons? Am I playing with my "new svg-toy"? "I've created a mess" replacing 1 picture that I've uploaded long ago (OK this doesn't mean anything), and for which I've checked usage and tried to prevent "a mess" from happening ([1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]) but missing a few pages by mistake ([8] [9]) or by omission (User's pages and likes, sorry I didn't check the template properly). So sorry for showing good will. Btw is it that hard to check the category the image is in and copying the name of the image that looks just like it? Or how hard is it to see that somebody else already msged me to tell me not to show good will ever again in the redundant image thing? This was my first, and will probably be the last. I don’t think you’d want me to create this kind of mess ever again. ---moyogo 08:33, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mistake in the Congo map

[edit]

Hi! Thanks for the good vector map of the DRC. I noticed one mistake in it that needs to be fixed. The borders of the Lualaba province is drawn so that Kolwezi, the capital of that province, is left out. In this article of the French Wikipedia it is said that the new Lualaba province consists of the old Lualaba district and Kolwezi district. A good image of the districts can be found here: Carte des Districts et Territoires du Katanga. I would correct this problem myself, but my first experiments with vector drawing software discouraged me. --Rasulo 2006-07-11

Thank you very much. Merci beaucoup! --Rasulo 2006-07-15
I'd like to help you with the Congo Template, but I cannot open it with Photoshop. May be http://www.unjlc.org/DRC/maps/ocha_drc_003/view gives you the informations you need (half of Vicikongo- and all of Mayumbe-Railway is not mentioned.--80.218.17.191 00:04, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-3.0 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. Hello, I'm working on a geolocation\mapping project on hebrew wikipedia, and this image is better than the one we use so far (File:DRC-locator.PNG). Hello, Moyogo!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Please help replace this outdated license

[edit]

Hello!

Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license PD. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.

The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding PD-self if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.

Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.

The images we would like you to check are:

Petite remarque

Bonjour.

Je me renseignerai. Vu les milliers de fichiers dans la catégorie, c'est impossible de faire du rangement manuellement. J'essaie pour les départements et villes, car les fichiers peuvent servir dans des articles de géographie etc. à condition qu'on sait qu'ils existent ! Traumrune (talk) 21:42, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Bon week-end. Traumrune (talk) 22:00, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:World Map Blank.svg

Hi, Moyogo. I noticed that you were the one who created File:World Map Blank.svg. Could you tell me what source did you use for it? I mean, from where did you take the information to draw the geographic lines? The division of countries? Thank you very much, --Lecen (talk) 13:36, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's in the description Source: From World map pol 2005 v02.svg. --moyogo (talk) 14:26, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Moyogo, the source of this file is http://flagspot.net/flags/cd-zr.html ? Have you made the arm more symbolic simplified graphically? -- πϵρήλιο 02:27, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Answer not by the uploader: User:MS05L updated the flag on my request. For the flag, there is no exakt description other than "a black arm carrying a torch in a yellow circle on a green flag" every source shows the flag with slightly other colors, and a more or less realistic drawing of arm and torch, depending on the size of the picture, the abilities of the painter and the quality of their source. Discussing the factual accuracy of the the description does not make any sense, because our version is correct.--Antemister (talk) 09:58, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ok yes I saw this sentence of the source later. So I'll update your other request. -- πϵρήλιο 16:56, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.
