Hi Matija. Thank you very much for helping translate the Commons!
I'm not sure if you're still working on this, but there is a little bit more to do before it can go "live" for Serbian language users (i.e., if they have "sr" set as their language, then this link can appear in the navigation menu for them).
Instead of having uselang=ownwork, fromflickr etc, you should change them to something like ownwork-sr, fromflickr-sr. Then there are some more pages to edit. See Commons:Redesigning_the_upload_form for details (and please let me know if it doesn't make sense). Because if you follow the links at the moment, they just show English, right? So you need to make some more content so they show Serbian. You can see the Norwegians have completed this - try the links at Commons:Upload/no.
BTW as far as I know there are no Serbian-speaking admins at Commons. So if you want to get involved with the community here and/or help promote Commons at your local project/s, then we would be very happy! :)

Pozdrav. --Veliki Kategorizator 06:33, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
There seems to be a problem with this picture, wikimedia cannot generate a preview, and claims it is a 0x0px SVG. You should try and fix this. Tryphon (talk) 23:20, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 19:50, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

File tagging File:Novi Beograd - Blok 22 iz vazduha.png
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Novi Beograd - Blok 22 iz vazduha.png. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

Question about Category:National costumes of Croatia
[edit]Dear Martija, I see you speak Hrvatski, I hope you can help me with a question about the Category:National costumes of Croatia. Some months ago I closed the discussion about Category:Traditional clothes by country and made a lot of the required changes. But there is still one question open about National costumes of Croatia, see Commons:Categories for discussion/2021/11/Category:National costumes of Croatia. Could you help me to find the answers to the questions:
- What is the difference between Category:National costumes of Croatia and Category:Traditional clothing of Croatia?
- Can these two Commons categories be merged? (Category:Traditional clothing of Croatia will stay, the other gets a redirect.)
If you do not know the answer yourself, do you know someone else who might? --JopkeB (talk) 08:41, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hi. The only difference I can imagine is that Traditional clothing might have a wider scope than National costumes. Now, this may in some extreme case feel like a "problem" for any Croatian nationalists (I know there are many influental ones on Wikipedia at least) who might not feel that e.g. a Serb-Croatian costume (i.e. traditional clothing of Serbs living in Croatia) should belong there. But if merged into one category, and one with a wider scope, such as Traditional clothing, they may hate it but would have to stick with it. I don't really see any problems there, as categories aren't a major player on a Wiki article anyway. So, yes, I agree with the merge. --Matija (talk) 13:01, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hi. Thanks a lot for your reaction and opinion. I'll take the chance to merge Category:National costumes of Croatia into Category:Traditional clothing of Croatia and I'll make a redirect for the National costumes. You can never please everyone. --JopkeB (talk) 14:50, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
