Color correction

[edit]

Hello, Seeing that you do a great job at correcting pictures, could you have a try with this one: File:Crowds of French patriots line the Champs Elysees.jpg? It is an 65 old image which has a color problem. Thanks in advance, Yann (talk) 21:37, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great, and you are fast! Yann (talk) 23:48, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Geolocation

[edit]

Hi Julie,

Thank you for your question regarding geolocation. I think most of the things you need to kknow are described here. Once you have the coordidates you hit the edit section for Summary in your file page and add the {{Location}} template underneatch the {{Information}} template. See, e.g., File:Cow (Fleckvieh breed) Oeschinensee Slaunger 2009-07-07.jpg for an example (hit its edit page to seee how it has been done). I understand that you there is an editing barrier understanding the markup, how to use templates etc. I recall having the same feeling a few years ago. If you get stuck again, do not hesitate to contact me. --Slaunger (talk) 14:01, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The geolocation looks fine, although I am unsure whether it is the right spot in the zoo you have marked. I am in doubt because if you click on the link to Google maps, another photo of a squirrel monkey (from another creator) pops up in the other end of the park. But that may also be the other creator, who is mistaken concerning the location (or the animals have moved meanwhile)? Also, please remember to end your posts on talk pages with your signature. Yes, there are so many things to remember, but don't worry, and I also forget at least once a week. --Slaunger (talk) 21:36, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. Do not be confused if your marker on the map is not updated right away. The geocoding takes places on a another server and it sometimes takes quite some time, a quarter of an hour or so (due to a replication lag I think), for it to be updated. Also, do not hesitate to ask if you have further questions. --Slaunger (talk) 22:27, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Nice pelican, btw! --Slaunger (talk) 22:29, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Watchlist numbers

[edit]

Hi Julie,

The numbers in parenthesis in your watchlist tells you how many characters have been added (+) or removed (-) in the last edit to a particular page. It gives an impression of how large the latest edit is. And your questions are not annoying. Do not hesitate to ask again, if you have other questions. --Slaunger (talk) 11:34, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File pages without a license

[edit]

Hi again Julie,

Yes, all pages should have at least one license tag for a free license, which allows commercial reuse. Most typically GFDL and or one of the Creative Commons licenses, or Public Domain. If you encounter a file page without a license tag, it is an error which should be fixed. You can tag such files as having "No license". To see how that is done read Commons:Copyright tags#Tags for incomplete or missing license info. --Slaunger (talk) 21:30, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pelican image

[edit]

I still prefer Slaunger's edit because with the mask the pelican stands out more against the background and given the lack of strong lighting, the separation looks a bit unnatural. Just a matter of taste. I'm not changing my vote since you already have five for your edit. Downtowngal (talk) 00:26, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FPC

[edit]

Hi Julie, I'm sorry to see that you have withdrawn several of your nominations. I also saw your comment at Slaunger's talk page (sorry, nosey!). Commons FPC is a bewildering place: you absolutely never know what sort of half-cocked opposes or supports will show up. Some of it is constructive criticism, yes, and some of it just tries to be, but a lot of time it is whim and fancy, and will blow away on the wind in a week. Give it some time; I think you take excellent photographs and would like to see more of your work at FPC. (P.S. My name is Julie, too, :-D) Maedin\talk 16:38, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your nominations

[edit]

Dear Julie, like Maedin, I was really sad to see you withdrawing your nominations. I think your pictures are beautiful, and that your edited picture File:Spectacled-langur-bg.jpg is quite possible the greatest primate picture here on Commons. I really would love to see it featured. Hopefully, you won't let the tense atmosphere sometimes present at FPC (and many talk pages as well) discourage you from being an active part of the community, which I think is healthy as a whole. Have a great day & a great time here. Philipp. -- JovanCormac 17:32, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Crab monkey

[edit]

Hey, thanks for your support and educative comments at my nomination. I added the picture to Macular degeneration but it was removed by a user who said the monkey was displaying external symptoms. I don't understand all that and you seem to be very well versed with monkeys so could you please help me out? --Muhammad (talk) 09:42, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The user is just an ip address. The user said, "macular degeneration is an internal disorder. Monkey has external symptoms.)". I was wondering if you could add to the article if the md can have external symptoms as well. I would but I have no idea on the matter and am afraid of messin up :)--Muhammad (talk) 12:49, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Here. Could you also add a link to the image in your discussion? Thanks, appreciate your help. --Muhammad (talk) 15:04, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Visible email address

[edit]

Hi Julie,

Are you sure you want to publicly display your email address? I mean, when I visit your page, there is an "Email this user" link in the toolbox, where the email address is not directly visible. You risk a lot of spam if you show it in public.

Btw, I have replied on your EXIF question on my talk page.

Cheers, --Slaunger (talk) 07:09, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the tip, I have removed it now, but I can't find any toolbox? Julielangford (talk) 10:36, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Yousuf-Karsh.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
