File tagging File:Nauru-airphoto.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Nauru-airphoto.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Nauru-airphoto.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Bare et lite ønske om rettelse under kartboksen din på førstesiden om Oslo: Rett "Oslo within Oslo" til "Oslo county within Akershus county" - Hilsen Tron Hummelvoll, Oslo
Hei,
hvordan lager du vektografikken over fylkesgrensene? Hvor fikk du data for hvor de forskjellige grensene går?
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 16:36, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

You're becoming a celebrity in Russia
[edit]After that superpower of Nauru recognized Abkhazia as a state everyone in Russian media scrambled for any news/data/photos of the island, and voila, here's a pic [1] credited to "Jon Harald Soby с сайта wikipedia.org" (the quoted line actually made it to front page of Google News in Russian as of right now - it's how I found it). Oh well it seems that it's actually someome else's photo, but spelling that other guys' name is atrociously difficult .... :)) NVO (talk) 09:01, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Please help replace this outdated license
[edit]Hello!
Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license PD. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.
The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding PD-self if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.
Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.
The images we would like you to check are:

Considering your various positions, I think it's fairly important that you do appreciate this. By no means is deleting because of freedom of panorama concerns wikilawyering. It's exactly the same principle as deleting a scanned non-free photograph- if we create a copy of a non-free work, it must be assumed non-free. The freedom of panorama that exists in some nations is the exception, not the rule- if anything is to be considered wikilawyering, it is that. No freedom of panorama exists in the UAE (equally, there is not one in France, and equally, statues are not covered by the US FOP) and so we can't use the photographs. There's no way we can apply common sense and ignore this. J Milburn (talk) 21:57, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
Fylkeskart rådata
[edit]Hei Jon Harald,
Flag of Ukraine
[edit]Hi Jon,
I would like to thank you for creating the vector flag of Ukraine. It's much appreciated. I have a request for you. Would you be so kind to change the blue color of Ukraine's flag so it will correspond to the Constitution of Ukraine? I know it might be confusing that the Ukrainian blue sometimes appear as quite light blue and there might be a mess with translation of our official colors. Let me explain why it happens by citing some texts:
However, Ukrainians commonly refer to the flag as yellow and blue (zhovto-blakytnyi). A different version of the flag used during UNR (Ukrainian National Republic) years (1917-1921). With yellow on the (zhovtyi) top and light blue (blakytnyi) on the bottom. Here it is.
Article 20 of the Constitution of Ukraine states the following, citing: "the State Flag of Ukraine is a banner of two equally sized horizontal bands of blue (as dark blue) and yellow color." (ukr: "Державний Прапор України є банер з двох однакових за розміром горизонтальних смуг синього і жовтого кольору." Constitution of Ukraine).
In Ukrainian and other Slavic languages, light blue (blakytnyi, ukr: блакитний) and dark blue (syniy, ukr: синій) colors are main distinguished colors. The difference dates back to ancient times. In English (Latin) culture, there are commonly six colors of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet), while in Ukrainian (Slavic) a rainbow consists of seven colors with blue being split into two: light blue and dark blue. The difference creates difficulties in translation of blue between Ukrainian and English. If blue is avoided for clarity, the colors of the official Ukrainian flag is dark blue and yellow, while in spoken language Ukrainians often name their flag as being yellow and light blue (zhovto-blakytnyi prapor) referring to 1917-1921 flag. Here are some examples of the official flag. Here is the official portrait of our president. You can see the national flag on the left side. If you remove the glossy reflection it will be dark blue color. Here are the flags of Ukraine and EU together. The blue colors are pretty similar. Here is the picture of our former predident on one of the TV channels. Here is another example. Here is our former Prime Minister.
I'm a graphic designer myself and I'm very much into heraldry. I'm not trying to patronize you or something like that, I just want to eliminate the further confusion with our national colours. Main Ukraine's page on Wikipedia is a pretty powerful source which can help with this. I would say that Pantone 285 C is too light for our blue, it should be Pantone 286 C.
I hope for you help, Jon.
Best regards, UP9, 8:40, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
- I have no idea what colour is correct or not. All I did was to take the old PNG file and rewrite it as an SVG file, using the colours of the old PNG flag. So if you think some other colour nuance is better, feel free to change it. :-) Jon Harald Søby (talk) 23:26, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
