File source is not properly indicated: File:Maccabees Or Torah Synagogue in Acre.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Maccabees Or Torah Synagogue in Acre.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (
[[:File:Maccabees Or Torah Synagogue in Acre.jpg]] ).
If you created the content yourself, enter If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

Thanks for uploading File:Flickr - Government Press Office (GPO) - The Taslich Prayer.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

Cemetery chapels
[edit]I believe your move of Category:Jewish cemetery chapels to Category:Jewish funeral homes was wrong. Was it discussed at all? If so, I missed it. We have a Category:Cemetery chapels distinct from Category:Funeral homes. A cemetery chapel is necessarily in a cemetery; a funeral home may not be. A funeral home necessarily has facilities to clean and prepare the body (e.g. cadaver tables, typically cold storage, typically an embalming facility); a cemetery chapel may not and, to the best of my knowledge typically does not. - Jmabel ! talk 17:25, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
- Hi. I think this confusion stems from differences between Jewish and other common practices. Yes, most if not all buildings in Jewish cemeteries include facilities to clean the body. There's no need for cold storage or embalming - jewish burial is done within a day from time of death and requires only purification of the body with water. These buildings would normally contain some space for mourners to gather around the body and address eulogies. However, such buildings may not be located within the cemetery at all. In many cases, they are located somewhere else, and the body is brought to the cemetery after eulogies are addressed only to be buried straight away. --Joalbertine (talk) 12:47, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
Autopatrol given
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. ~riley (talk) 05:27, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
Please read Commons:Overwriting existing files. As it happens, I like the crop you did, and I'll leave it, but you absolutely should not do this on the work of still-active contributors without consulting them. - Jmabel ! talk 15:55, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
- Did you seriously revoke my Autopatrol status over this? It's an unbelievably aggressive reaction. --Joalbertine (talk) 15:44, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
- I did nothing of the sort. I have no idea what you are even referring to. - Jmabel ! talk 23:04, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
- According to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Log?type=&user=&page=User%3AJoalbertine&wpdate=&tagfilter=&wpfilters%5B%5D=newusers, ~riley granted you autopatrol status 25 March 2020, and you have had it ever since. What is your remark referring to? - Jmabel ! talk 23:08, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
- Weird. I received an email the very same day, alerting that I'm no longer a member of the autopatrollers list. Nothing like that has ever happened to me before. --Joalbertine (talk) 19:44, 13 September 2020 (UTC)
- Are you finding that your edits are no longer autopatrolled? Or was the email perhaps just in error? - Jmabel ! talk 23:31, 13 September 2020 (UTC)
- I have no idea. I try to just do what needs to be done (in my mind) and not get into any kind of Wiki-politics or personal scores. It doesn't really matter. --Joalbertine (talk) 09:54, 14 September 2020 (UTC)

Вікі любить пам'ятки 2020 в Україні: залишилося два тижні! / Wiki Loves Monuments 2020 in Ukraine: two weeks are left!

How to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category
[edit]When you want to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category, best practice is to mark it with {{SD|C2}} if it would be OK to re-create it in the future, given that appropriate content becomes available or {{SD|C1}} if it is an inappropriate category name that should not be reused. In particular, this is better practice than just blanking the category page, as you did at Category:Old city (Jerusalem) in the 1830s. ("C1" and "C2" come from Commons:Criteria for speedy deletion). Jmabel ! talk 18:51, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
Cities of Refuge has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |
