Wii Image
[edit]Very nice image. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Wii_Wiimotea.png
Some points:
Remote not resting on the surface. LED can be seen in the reflection but not in the actual Wiimote.
- Reflection was there in the original. Some doofus took it out. Jecowa (talk) 15:27, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
Re: Danke!
[edit]Hi!
No problem. But still, it would be a good idea if you would categorize your images. --ALE! ¿…? 21:51, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
A note
[edit]Hi. Quick note: can you avoid uploading huge images over small images? this gave us rather a surprise. 80.168.29.18 10:58, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- I do not see a problem in uploading better versions over he older ones. In fact its recommended process! --Cat out 22:50, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- Big problem if the new images are huge and the old ones are small. Did you see the mess it made over at en? 82.45.195.6 09:00, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- So fix it rather than complaining. --Cat out 21:32, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- We did. I'm just making a polite request for care to be taken in future. Is there a problem with this? 82.45.195.6 22:22, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Sockpuppets? Sigh. One is me at work, one is me at home. 80.168.29.18 10:36, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- I wouldn't describe these images as huge. For images for use on the web, they are more like medium. In my opinion for web images "huge" would have to be at least 0.786 megapixels, large from 0.307 - 0.786 megapixels, medium from 0.076 - 0.307 megapixels, and small would be less than 0.076 megapixels. Wikimedia prefers images of the highest available resolution (12 megapixel limit). I would do that, but it takes so long to upload a 12 megapixel image. That would really be a huge image. Jecowa 11:57, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- Did you check the link I made to the article on en? It totally messed up the formatting of the page, and someone had to hunt down all the usages of the various images. While it is good that you seem to have fixed one or two pages yourself for this, I am politely asking you to bear in mind downstream users such as enwiki, who will get surprised and messed up by that sort of change. I don't know how many other wikis are using these images, as well (probably not too many, but the principle still applies). Did you check them all? 80.168.29.18 12:13, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- I saw the link. I just fixed the images on the Polskiej Wikipedii. The Português Wikipédia only uses TNG and TOS insignia. I guess because they are the most commonly seen. I was only doing what I was told. I only replace other users' images when I'm given a special reason to. Normally, I don't overwrite other users' images. Is it really that big of a deal to change the image size? It would be much more work to change the file names and the image size on everyone of those pages for the fifty-eight Star Trek rank and insignia images I've replaced so far. Adding "|55px" is much easier. Jecowa 18:41, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well, adding " big" to the end of the image on enwiki and suchforth isn't much harder than adding "|55px", and also has the advantage of not breaking anything. I'm just politely asking, that's all. If people wish to call me a "sockpuppet" or whatever because I am not logged in, then fine. But any advice to replace icon-sized images with ones which are hundreds of pixels wise seems ill-considered. 82.45.195.6 22:22, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- It's okay to have sockpuppets. There is no rule against it. I have 25 of them myself. They love to have conversations with each other. Jecowa 23:16, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

- Moving along there are few images of star trek pins you may also want to convert to your version. --Cat out 21:32, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- I wasn't sure if you wanted photographs changed to computer-generated graphics or not. I still need to do those non-canon pics. I think it would be good to keep the photographs in addition to the computer generated images. It's nice to see what they look like in real life. I think it would be nice to have a photograph for every style of insigna (e.g TOS, TNG, Voyager provisional, Enterprise). Does Paramount sell real props like that to fans? Jecowa 23:16, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- Paramount never sold them. However Holywood pins (now bankrupt) did sell them. The photos of 3d objects and 2d ones undergo different copyright rules. That is why I'd rather replace 3d objects with "cartoonish" versions. Feel free to overwrite those too. They are also very low in quality so you can barely tell what shape it is.
- Also feel free to redo TOS TNG and other rank insignias.

Sockpuppet
[edit]I think 82.45.195.6 may be a sock puppet of 80.168.29.18. According to my map they are both from the Europe. Also, they both don't like the big picture. It is very coincidental. Could you please ask CheckUser to confirm this? Jecowa 09:49, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- A checkuser is not necessary since they are ips. besides he claims to be the same person on your talk page. --Cat out 21:32, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- Let's not go around assuming people's gender, shall we? 82.45.195.6 22:24, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, when dealing with a random IP I assume "male" since it is statistically more likely. If you'd like me to better recognize you, feel free to get an account. --Cat out 01:01, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
- Let's not go around assuming people's gender, shall we? 82.45.195.6 22:24, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry,
I just made it gender neutral.I was joking about the check user stuff. Jecowa 22:34, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry,
- To better not assume gender you can say, "this user" instead of "he." User 82.45.195.6/80.168.29.18 is female, by the way. Wait, was I assuming gender just now? Jecowa
- I do not believe in "political correctness" but that adjustment cant hurt either. --Cat out 01:01, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. - If you would have read the page, you would have seen that there is a license, just not the template for the license. The correct template was not given as an option when I was uploading the image. This image and its sister both have their appropriate license tags added now. Thank you for your attentiveness. Jecowa 19:41, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 16:10, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Karamanid Dynasty flag
[edit]Hi. Can I ask you what is the source for that flag? Where can I find any academic reference as to that flag is genuine? Thanks. --E4024 (talk) 13:21, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- The design of the image Karamanid Dynasty flag.svg is based on the image Karamanid Dynasty flag.png. The description of that page reads, "Flag of Karaman according to the Catalan Atlas of 1375, created by Ingoman AKA James Dahl". Hope this helps. Jecowa (talk) 15:20, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Jecowa. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Jecowa~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
