File tagging File:Wordpress.org.png
[edit]This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:Wordpress.org.png. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

[edit]SOPA protest screenshots
[edit]Hi, thanks for your contribution of these SOPA protest screenshots. Unfortunately, because these are screenshots, you are unable to release them into the public domain, unless the content depicted is in the public domain (in which case you can't claim copyright anyways, as there is no original authorship entailed in the creation of a screenshot). The copyright of the content depicted belongs entirely to the owners of the copyright of the website, and you will need to provide licensing information about the website.
For Wikimedia projects which contain the logo, you should use the template {{Wikimedia project screenshot|logo=yes|<project name>}} where <project name> is the project name (e.g English Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons). This template will provide all suitable licensing information. For all other projects, you will need to release the screenshot under the licensing information provided on that site, and ensure that it is a free license. If the site is not under a free license, you can also send an email to the site owner requesting that they release the blackout version of the site under OTRS, though this process may take a week or so from the time the request is received. (I did this with SMBC and xkcd and included a copy of the screenshot, though unfortunately, no response as of yet.)
Commons:Screenshots provides detailed information on releasing a free screenshot. Thanks and regards, Quintucket (talk) 01:36, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
Hi, I'm already aware of the mistake I made since last wednesday. As detailed above, I already sent requests for permissions to sites concerned. Thanks for noticing and letting me know though, --Japs 88 (talk) 10:07, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oh. Sorry for missing that. And thanks again for your efforts. --Quintucket (talk) 22:36, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

Your Vote (Picture of the Year)
[edit]It seems one of your votes is undefined. Maybe this is related to Can't_vote_on_ogv_files. Could you please try to vote again and remove your undefined vote? --McZusatz (talk) 14:44, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, I apologize for this serious application error. The file you voted for was one of the two videos (1, 2). Simply revisit the gallery, click on the statistics-button next to the video and add your vote manually if it does not work properly this time. You can use
# [[User:{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}|]]
for manual voting. Thanks in advance. -- RE rillke questions? 15:31, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
Dear POTY-voter, some helpful people made us aware of a mistake in our candidate list. We regret the inconvenience.
- File:1944 NormandyLST.jpg was listed as a candidate but was never featured.
- File:1944 NormandyLST clean.jpg was a Featured Picture on Commons.
- Now, the only Featured Picture remaining is File:Into the Jaws of Death 23-0455M edit.jpg
Therefore we will add your vote to Commons:Picture of the Year/2011/R1/Into the Jaws of Death 23-0455M edit.jpg after voting is over, if you do not disagree and it is not yet there. If you don't want to have your vote transferred, visit Commons:Picture of the Year/2011/R1/1944 NormandyLST clean.jpg and remove your vote, either by editing the page and removing exactly the line containing your username or clicking the button.
Yours sincerely -- RE rillke questions? 10:01, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
Hello Japs 88, is seems like you attempted to remove your vote from the voting page. Due to a script error (caused by unexpected JS-regexp behaviour), that did not work. Thanks for reporting this bug.
The issue is resolved in-between and, if you really want to remove your vote from this file, you should be able now. If you still encounter problems removing your vote using the App, click on edit and remove exactly the line containing your user name.
I, the developer of the VotingApp, regret the inconvenience. Yours sincerely RE rillke questions? 15:55, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
A number of us are considering using your beautiful image Prototype kilogram replica.JPG as the lead picture for the English Wikipedia article Kilogram, and I was wondering if you could give us any more information about it. Specifically, can you tell me which kilogram prototype this is? I assume it is one of France's national prototypes. I couldn't find any reference to it on the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie website. Thank you for your help. --Chetvorno (talk) 14:55, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
Picture of the Year voting round 1 open
[edit]Dear Wikimedians,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:
- Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
- This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
- Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.
To see the candidate images just go to the POTY 2012 page on Wikimedia Commons
Wikimedia Commons celebrates our featured images of 2012 with this contest. Your votes decide the Picture of the Year, so remember to vote in the first round by January 30, 2013.
Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

Immagini e wikidata

Notification about possible deletion
[edit]Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Reminder: Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2016 is open!
[edit]You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2016 Picture of the Year contest.
Dear Japs 88,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2016 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eleventh edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2016) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category.
In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 2 will end on 20 April 2017, 23:59:59 UTC.
Thanks,
--Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee 08:41, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
Grazie, Nemo 16:06, 12 September 2018 (UTC)
Source of derivative work is not properly indicated: File:Gonfalone del comune di Stazzema.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Gonfalone del comune di Stazzema.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |
