Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

[edit]Hello - I'm reaching out regarding a deletion request of this media: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Paul-Maric-Motoring-Journalist.jpg
The image was taken from the user's website and is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.
You can see mention of this license in the footer of the following page -> https://paulmaric.com .

- (talk page stalker) @Southoftheyarra: , non-commercial licenses are not allowed on Commons either. Dylsss (talk) 02:12, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Southoftheyarra,
- The Commons licensing policy explains in more detail about why files under a non-commercial and/or a non-derivative license aren't allowed to be uploaded to Commons.
- Since I intially misread the footer when nominating the files for speedy deletion the first time, I've instead nominated both files for regular deletion, which is a process that allows 7 days for review.
- Hi Harryboyles and Dylsss
- Thanks for the explanation. I reached out to the user on social media. They explained that their website was updated recently and the wrong Creative Commons license was listed on the page. He explained that it has now been updated to correctly reflect an international license. I've since refreshed their page and the update is reflected in the footer.
- It is now listed as Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
