Thanks for uploading File:First Lady Melania Trump Visits Children's National Hospital (50732662153).jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. Question - Can I request that a United States Government Flickr account be added to your upload bot?
Thanks, -- Ooligan (talk) 17:05, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Ooligan, which one is it? vip (talk) 18:00, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
- There are three. The three most "popular" or high interest Flickr accounts of the U.S Government:
- 1. The White House - https://www.flickr.com/photos/whitehouse/ [1] -
- 2. U.S. Department of State - https://www.flickr.com/photos/statephotos/ [2] -
- 3. U.S. Secretary of Defense - https://www.flickr.com/photos/secdef/ [3] -
- Ooligan (talk) 18:18, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
- OK, it's doable. vip (talk) 18:27, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
- Do I need to do anything more? Please, let me know. Thanks, -- Ooligan (talk) 23:42, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
- No it's ok, I'll let you know once it's done. vip (talk) 08:48, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Ooligan I added the White House accounts. Images appear now in this category: Category:Govmedia files (review needed). Is it for you to review them? I'll add other government accounts later. vip (talk) 18:30, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- Ok, I will add that to my "to do" list. Please, let me know when the others accounts are added.
- Questions:
- 1. How often (times a day) does the bot check the account(s) for new photos?
- 2. What is the lag time between the check and uploading any new photos needing uploading? Thank you again, -- Ooligan (talk) 19:15, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hi!
- 1. The bot will run once a day for these accounts, it's currently set at 00:50 UTC, but subject to change, see https://gitlab.wikimedia.org/toolforge-repos/spacemedia/-/blob/main/src/main/resources/crontab.txt?ref_type=heads#L13 for reference.
- 2. Currently it's a manual upload request from me until I change it in automatic mode. I'll switch to automatic mode once all accounts have been setup and initial batch of missing pictures has been uploaded. vip (talk) 09:19, 10 August 2024 (UTC)

OptimusPrimeBot stop uploading request
Hi Don, could the bot please stop mass-uploading U.S. Government files on Flickr? The bot upload thousands of Flickr images in a short period of time and now seems to break FlickreviewR 2 to review Flickr files. A1Cafel (talk) 17:08, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @A1Cafel, are you the bot's maintainer, and sure that these imports are the cause of FlickreviewR2 problems? My bot respects the API throttle, so it should not harm other bots. Also I currently see some problems on toolforge right now (DNS error, tools.db.svc.wikimedia.cloud cannot be resolved, so that may explain why toolforge bots are failing). vip (talk) 17:43, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
PD-link photos
I noticed a couple of photos like File:200117-A-PD249-008 Supreme Allied Commander Europe visits Alliance Ground Surveillance aircraft in Italy.jpg uploaded by you that have been incorrectly tagged with {{PD-link}} (should use the PD-USGov-* tag). Can you correct them? Multichill (talk) 21:12, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
- Mmm these ones are a difficult case. They have not been taken by a U.S. soldier but a German one during NATO event, then attributed with a U.S. VIRIN with 'A' letter (U.S. Army), then published on DVIDS as public domain... Honestly I don't know how to handle these files differently. vip (talk) 21:17, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
- Oh, I didn't notice the "NATO photo by OR7 Pia Dunkel, German Army" part. That's quite simple, it's not public domain.
- See also https://www.dvidshub.net/about/copyright . Deleted quite a couple of my navy uploads because the files came from third parties. Multichill (talk) 16:05, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, ok. Thanks for the info. vip (talk) 16:19, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
