File tagging File:Data USA Homepage.png
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Data USA Homepage.png. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

Image without license
[edit]
- Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
- State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
- If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
- Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
- Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.
If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.
It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.
You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.
Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.
Thank you. This message was added automatically by MifterBot (Talk • Contribs • Owner), if you need some help about it, please read the text above again and follow the links in it, if you still need help ask at the ->Commons:Help desk in any language you like to use. --MifterBot (Talk • Contribs • Owner) 15:02, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Copyright status: File:Wilkes-Barre-scranton, Pa Product Exports (2020).svg
This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Wilkes-Barre-scranton, Pa Product Exports (2020).svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

File:Alaska Product Exports (2020).svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

File:Tree Map of Employment by Industries in Wisconsin (2015).svg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request.

US SVG maps. Source links need tweaking. Other questions
[edit]I noticed 7 good US SVG maps in the deletion discussion:
One of the source links for each map file below is in this form:
- Interactive Visualization: Data USA
It looks like you forget the domain, subdomain, etc.. These source links look like they were incompletely copied over. Could you fix it, or provide me with the first part of the links, and I will fix it.
- File:United States Map of Median Household Income by State (2015).svg
- File:United States Map of Population by State (2015).svg
- File:United States Map of Obesity Prevalence by State (2013).svg
- File:United States Map of Percent Uninsured by State (2014).svg
- File:United States Map of Homicide Deaths per 100,000 People by State (2015).svg
- File:United States Map of Adult Smoking Prevalence by State (2015).svg
- File:United States Map of Teen Births (Age 15-19) per 1,000 People by State (2014).svg
Also, are there any tools anybody can use on the sites you are involved with for creating these SVG maps, but without the interactive elements? And can we use a Wikimedia compatible free license?
Or can anybody create the maps on those sites, and then ask you to post the non-interactive SVG version with the Wikimedia compatible free license?
Can the sites you work with make non-interactive US SVG maps like this where the data is on the map along with all the state names:
That map was created with a template that allows pasting in lists:
- File:Template map of usa states and dc.svg
- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qBwH0oA5IklYobs-igbVc0k-WsoxWPSbG0cgmGEZeys/edit#gid=784615544

--Timeshifter (talk) 07:12, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
- Good catch @Timeshifter, and my apologies for the incorrectly formatted URLs. The domain should be: https://datausa.io/
- The maps were generated using the script in the following repo to "sanitize" the SVGs, create metadata, and remove interactivity: https://github.com/DataUSA/datausa-wikimedia Dave Landry (talk) 13:56, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
- I tried plugging in datausa.io in various ways into the partial URLs, and nothing I tried worked. Could you find one good working URL for one of the "Interactive Visualization" links for the maps and paste it here. I can go from there.
- The problem may be deeper if the website has done some changing in how the database is accessed, and did not leave adequate redirects. --Timeshifter (talk) 00:43, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
- My apologies, you are absolutely right. I now see that these links are from about 5 years ago, and both the underlying data and URL structures have been updated.
- If these maps were to be updated, they would have to use the new URL structure, which is more of a hashed string to allow more information in the query params. For example, the first link in "Interactive Visualization" could be updated to 2020 data here: https://datausa.io/map/?measure=rpOyC&groups%5B0%5D=xySnq%7C0&time=2020 Dave Landry (talk) 20:46, 28 March 2023 (UTC)
- Yeah, it looks like there is no easy solution since the URLs are so different:
- http://localhost:5000/map/?level=state&key=income,income_moe,income_rank
- The filename says median income whereas your source says "average income".
- File:United States Map of Median Household Income by State (2015).svg
- Is there a source for the median income?

Your amazing export statistic graphs
[edit]You make amazing export graphics! I was going to try to update some (Bolivia is of 2019), but I noticed, that if you would share the code / explain how it si done, it would be much easier. Are you planning any uptade soon? Best, Saippuakauppias (talk) 22:43, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
