User talk:Crapload
Our first steps tour and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki—it is really easy. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Good day
Just a little precision: the FPX template cannot be used if there's already a supporting vote other than the nominator. Happy voting. --S23678 (talk) 03:46, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks much. I did not know that. Crapload (talk) 05:20, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- FPC is probably not the best place for questions about copyright inheritance. I don't know where you are going to get proof of anybodies assertion of rights regarding photos. I assert (almost) all the photos I upload here are my own work, I provide no proof, what proof can I provide? Even if I could prove that I took the pictures (how?), I can not prove that I have not assigned the rights to someone else. The uploader of that image asserted they were the grandchild of the deceased Jack Weir, and implied they had the right to publish it. The fact that copyright survives the death of the author implies someone inherits those rights. There is no suggestion, anywhere, that the rights to this photo are contested by another party.
- The uploader hasn't been active since uploading the image, I think the likelyhood of tracking them down is small. I have always wondered about the practice of asserting copyright using an alias rather than ones real name, especially where there is no way to contact the person except through their User Talk page. Perhaps we should delete all material where the user only uses an alias and is now no longer active here?
- Perhaps Commons:Village_pump is a better place to discuss your concerns before embarking on a make-work scheme involving nominating images for deletion. --Tony Wills (talk) 22:31, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
