"No UN seat no map"
[edit]That's nonsense. Neither SADR nor Palestine are in the UN, but both are shown on the map. Please stop reverting these changes. —Nightstallion (?) 09:02, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
That's no argument. Palestine is no state. Otherwise thy wouldn't lose time in speaking abut a state. The area of ths Palestine is not taken from a country away. So UN or nothing. If Kosovo would control the area with their own army than it is absolutley OK but they have to listen to the UNMIK and the UNMIK o the Resolution 1244 and the UN both are saying serbian territory --Cp6 22:20, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
PS: They can upload maps separately but without cleaning the old ones!! It is not acceptable to overwrite reality with ideology!
- I'm sorry, but the reality is that Kosovo is its own polity (and has been since 1999 when it came under UN administration). —Nightstallion (?) 12:42, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
You're kidding. Under UN administration with full guaranty for Serbia. So don't overwrite old stuff or press this burndeadmonsters in serbian articles!!! First they have to control Kosovo with their own military an the hole Kosovo. --Cp6 13:33, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Could you please cease to vandalise the maps? —Nightstallion (?) 20:05, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Could you please stop overwriting files. Upload it separately! Nobody cares of some ideologic burndead "states". I would accept this if you put in Republic Srpska and Transnistria, please don't forget Euskadi!--Cp6 19:53, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- That's absolute nonsense. Neither Srpska nor Euskadi have declared independence, and Transnistria is not recognised by anyone; on the other hand, Palestine, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and Kosovo have all declared independence (or stated that this is their goal, for Palestine) and are recognised by between 17+ (Kosovo), 43 (SADR) and >100 (Palestine). Thus, the standard maps to be used should show Kosovo -- you're welcome to upload variant maps showing Serbia's viewpoint, though. —Nightstallion (?) 20:13, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
No YOU have to upload because you want something. Srpska has declared independence in the nineties. But that's no argument. A state has to have control with his own army his territory to declare himself as a state. Kosovo has to do what big master EU orders. The Resolution 1244 denies independence and it doesn't matter what 17+ are recognizig to blend the Shiptars. If Russia and Serbia are saying no you can only upload extra stuff WITHOUT overwriting the old stuff!! The other site is also increasing 20+ --Cp6 20:26, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- Why don't you all just upload new versions rather than replace the old -- keeping them both. Rename the images something along the lines of "Serbia and Kosovo (united)" and "Serbia and Kosovo (separated)"; or "Serbia with Kosovo" and "Serbia without Kosovo". Kosovo is not fully recognised and therefore both sides present valid claims that either it is or is not independent: therefore we should provide for both claims -- whether you agree with it or not. --Bossi (talk • gallery • contrib) 23:48, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
look declared Kosovo as a region which is not free. here These are old maps and she has to upload a new ones here and here Greetings --Cp6 00:26, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
- I am not entirely sure what point you are trying to make. --Bossi (talk • gallery • contrib) 01:01, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
Serbia relations
[edit]Lithuania has not recognized Kosovo and Metohija as an independent state. Yet it is colored as so on this map...

I would fix it myself but I don't know how to edit images on WP. Thanks.
Zdravo!

Kosovo on maps
[edit]I've written out a small proposal on how to treat Kosovo on maps here: Image talk:Continental-Europe-map.png#Kosovo - a solution. I'd like your feedback. Thanks! Hoshie (talk) 11:01, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:42, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
- Image:Wappen Zscherben.jpg is uncategorized since 31 March 2009.
Read this article and you will see that I am right. The Vlachs have been officially recognized to be Romanians and this is also the point of view of the Vlach organizations. By the way, the term "Vlach" means "Romanians", exactly like the term "Magyar" means "Hungarian" etc. They are only 2 terms designating a single ethnic group. --Olahus (talk) 16:56, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
- You must be kidding! The term Vlachs means in the serbian census 2002 a separate ethnic group! They are NOT officially recognized to be Romanians, they're officially recognized as a minority in Serbia. The only way to determine a preference of an ethnic group is a census. Wikipedia is not the right place for the point of view of some (not all!!) Vlach organizations. To join two ethnic groups in the map of the census represents a forcing of a point of view.
- The serbian census 2002 told us: the Vlachs are a (bilingual) ethnic group! More strongly linked to the name Vlach, Serb and at latest, far away, to the Romanian. The census describes it:
- (from the article) 2002: 40,054 declared Vlachs, 54,818 people declared Vlach as their mother language (population figures given for entire Serbia) or 39,953 declared Vlachs, 54,726 people declared Vlach as their mother language (population figures given for Central Serbia only).
- 1991: 71,536 Vlach-speakers in Serbia (of those 53,721 Serbs, 16,539 Vlachs, 42 Romanians; out of the 17,807 declared Vlachs, 677 Serbo-Croat-speakers)
- So what's about the difference? They declared themselves as Serbs with Vlach as their mothertongue. So that's their own preference. And that's officially. --Cp6 (talk) 15:15, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
