Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

- Thx :-) --Conspiration 19:24, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Please look at a legal screen of HoMM V: Image:HeroesV_Gameplay.png. HoMM V was procuded by Nival Inc., but it's a trademark of Ubisoft. The same with Far Cry. FJ 1 PL 18:31, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, maybe it's just for Germany that the producer always keeps some rights. Ok, I'll take back my deletion request. If necessary, I'll add a note later on the template about using it in Germany et al. --Conspiration 18:41, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Park Lane Hotel
[edit]Hi, thanks for your request, I'll see what I can do, given a little time Oxyman 02:55, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, we're participating in the Schreibwettbewerb (writing tourney) that goes until March 31st. That's why I can't give more time. Also, we've asked at the hotel so I'll keep you informed. --Conspiration 04:11, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- I didn't know that time was such a factor, I have since found these images on flickr with licenses that I believe are acceptable to Wikimedia Commons
http://www.flickr.com/photos/sharmiller1/114877955/sizes/l/
which has a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 2.0 Generic license
http://www.flickr.com/photos/jonsedar/164264639/sizes/l/
which has a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 2.0 Generic License
are these any use? Oxyman 16:24, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- Noncommercial isn't accepted on Commons. --Conspiration 21:51, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Please help replace this outdated license
[edit]Hello!
Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license {{PD}}. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.
The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding {{PD-self}} if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.
Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.
The images we would like you to check are:

Notification about possible deletion
[edit]Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Yours sincerely, Adamant1 (talk) 05:44, 11 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for bringing this to my attention. In 2008 when I uploaded it, postal stamps were generally viewed as being in the public domain in Germany. This changed only with the Loriot case, decided on 27 March 2012. So while the deletion request is legally correct, I am at no personal fault here, as at the time of uploading I was neither aware nor could foresee that a court might decide against the public domain status. I agree with the deletion. --Conspiration 13:16, 11 September 2023 (UTC)
File tagging File:Chess olympiad 2008 stamp.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Chess olympiad 2008 stamp.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Chess olympiad 2008 stamp.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
