Fast request from Photo Editor in Washington, DC
[edit]July 2, 2008
Dear CodeMonk,
Please forward your email address and reply asap/immediately to Hollmarsh1@aol.com.
I found the image of the cover of the book «A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court» by Mark Twain, 1889, posted by you at: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Yankee_in_KAC_book.JPG
I found these while doing photo research for a textbook publisher on a project. I thought this image might be appropriate for inclusion in a literature curriculum.
I am specifically seeking to confirm that you are the creator of the Wiki page, uploader of the image, owner of the book (and that the book is not owned by a public or private museum/collection or if so, whom), and seek your permission to possibly publish the image.
With your permission, we will credit you for in the image's permanent description page. Please explicitly state the credit line you require, for example, Courtesy ?.
I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience. We are in a hurry to confirm the images that will be used.
Thank you,
Holly Marshall

- Sorry, I rarely check this page, so I didn't see your request in time. I'm neither the owner of the book, nor the creator of the image. I just found that image somewhere on the web very long ago. You should try to find the source site. --CodeMonk (talk) 00:18, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:43, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Please help replace this outdated license
[edit]Hello!
Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license PD. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.
The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding PD-self if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.
Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.
The images we would like you to check are:
