ELKI has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this gallery, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. |

As you will see, I have withdrawn this -- you raised good points. Please remember that Commons Admins see about 100 new galleries per day, 90% of which are out-of-scope -- usually because they have no images or only one, but often because they are really articles that won't make it in a WP. We tend to delete first and ask questions later -- I hang a {{Delete}} tag on a new gallery maybe once a month, so, actually, the DR was a measured response. The gallery felt on the wrong side of the line to me -- probably because it's a minor topic and there is a lot of gallery, but on reflection you have convinced me that it's OK. Jim . . . . K-Means convergence
[edit]My prof used your File:K-means convergence.gif in his Computer Vision lecture today. One student asked why some of the coloured points are on the "wrong" side of the seperating lines. The prof responded that it's probably an issue with the animation, guessing that the seperating lines are updated one cycle too early. Is that true? If yes, could you fix it? -- Christallkeks (talk) 11:51, 11 January 2018 (UTC)
- @Christallkeks: Until it has converged, either points will appear to be on the "wrong" side, OR the center will not be the mean. So it will be "incorrect" one way or another, until converged. When interpreted correctly, the lines indicate what the next step will have to do. Once no points are on the other side, it has converged. But yes, I know this is tricky to interpret. In fact, the easiest would be to remove the lines completely; that is just a layer to disable. Chire (talk) 13:31, 11 January 2018 (UTC)
