borders in abortion map
[edit]Hi. To fix the borders in Georgia etc., just move them back into the alphabetical list of states. No need for a special fix.
I moved the states with borders down to the end of the doc, so that their borders would overlay neighboring states. When the borders are removed, they should be restored to their expected position. The existing border corrections were made for that setup. Kwamikagami (talk) 01:05, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
- That's helpful, thanks for the explanation. I'll plan on moving them back into the list if future fixes are ever needed Brom20110101 (talk) 01:48, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
Abortion in Idaho
[edit]I just looked into it, and the 6 week ban does indeed take effect now, but I believe a more strict trigger ban (I’m pretty sure a total ban) will take effect on August 25. President Loki (talk) 01:34, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing that out, and you're right about the six-week ban now being in effect (and were correct originally too), as well as about the near-total on August 25th. I added a topic under the Discussion page for the map (Topic #61) for further discussion. Brom20110101 (talk) 01:36, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
Arizona
[edit]In the future, if you are adding a border to a state, beneath the part of the SVG text where the states are colored, there is a section where you need to list every state with a border. I just added Arizona to that list, which fixed the border issue. President Loki (talk) 05:46, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks, Loki. I'll plan on adding states to that section. Your fix looks good Brom20110101 (talk) 12:40, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
Tennessee
[edit]Do you think Tennessee should be turned black on the global abortion ban map when abortion becomes banned there? President Loki (talk) 04:26, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- Not sure what map that is. Whatever it is, that sounds reasonable to me Brom20110101 (talk) 04:41, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- This is the map I am referring to. Black means no exceptions even in case of potential death. I wonder if Tennessee qualifies for that or not though. President Loki (talk) 04:50, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- See here: https://www.wkrn.com/news/tennessee-politics/can-tn-doctors-be-prosecuted-if-they-perform-an-abortion-to-save-a-mothers-life/?ipid=inline-link . There are no exceptions, so it qualifies. Brom20110101 (talk) 04:53, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- I wonder if the affirmative defense counts as an exception on that map though. President Loki (talk) 04:56, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, good question. In writing, there's no exception. In practice, it might end up being that this defense is practically an exception Brom20110101 (talk) 05:04, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- Ok, looked at it again. Affirmative defense is not an exception. The law bans all abortions, so doctors performing them are criminal defendants. At that point, they can mount a defense, yet they've still broken the law. I would say there's no exception, although maybe there will be some court discussion about that (or has been already?)
