You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). File:WTHL crest.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Thanks for uploading File:2017 World Table Hockey Champioship.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:2017 World Table Hockey Champioship.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

File:WTHL crest2.png has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

- Hi Bambino4. The logo you're trying to upload has already been deleted once before per Commons:Deletion requests/File:WTHL crest.png because it couldn't be verified that the file was released under a free license accepted by Commons. Commons will only accept files which are either (1) deemed to be within the public domain for one reason or another, or (2) which can be verified to have been released under a free license compatible with Commons:Licensing. This reason for this is that Commons makes available files which can be downloaded by anyone anywhere in the world at anytime which can then be used for pretty much any purpose (including commercial use and derivative use); therefore, Commons needs to be absolutely sure (or at least as sure a reasonably possible) that any file it hosts is not infringing upon the copyright of any third party. The way this is done is typically for Commons to either verify by email or an online website that the file has been released under a suitable free license by its original copyright holder. The WTHL crest can be seen on various websites, none of which are licensed in manner which allows their content to be uploaded to Commons; so, in order for the file to be kept, you will need to do one of the following.
- If you're the copyright holder or a representative of the copyright holder, please follow the instructions given in Commons:OTRS#Licensing images: when do I contact OTRS?.
- If you're not the original copyright holder, please follow the instructions given in Commons:OTRS#If you are NOT the copyright holder.
- Please note that files which are deleted are not gone forever; they are only hidden from public view and can be restored once the issues which lead to their deletion have been resolved. So, please don't upload any more versions of this logo because doing so will only likely lead to them being deleted and may even possibly lead to your account being block by administrator for repeatedly uploading copyright violations. Mistakes are expected from new editors and allowances will be made to some degree, but continuing to make the same mistake over and over again, especially after being advised not to do so, will eventually lead to an administrator intervening to prevent any further disruption. If you have any questions about this feel free to ask them below, or at Commons:Help desk.
- Finally, even though Commons doesn't accept fair use content, English Wikipedia does as long as it complies with its non-free content use policy. Company and organizational logos are one type of non-free content generally considered OK to upload locally to English Wikipedia. The policy on non-free content use is quite restrictive though which means a non-free file cannot be used as easily as a Commons file, but permission of the original copyright holder is not necessary for such a file to be uploaded. If you have any questions about this you can as for help at en:Wikipedia:Media copyright questions or en:Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:23, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
Hello Marchjuly, thanks for your patience and working with us new editors. I thought by uploading the file to Wikimedia Commons under the "Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International" heading would be sufficient as I am the designer of the WTHL crest2.png Since that is not sufficient I have emailed the OTRS using their email template for release of rights to a file and now await further instruction of when the file can be used again in the infobox as other Wikipedia pages have on their page. Any further assistance is appreciatedBambino4 (talk) 16:08, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
- You should receive a reply from OTRS which includes an OTRS ticket number. You can use this ticket number to query about the status of your email at COM:OTRSN. OTRS verification tends to be backed up and it might take some time for your email to be processed, but eventually a volunteer will get to it; so, you need to be patient and remember that OTRS is just a bunch of volunteers trying to help out. Once your copyright ownership has been verified, the file will be restored and tagged with {{OTRS permission}}. If there are problems, OTRS will most likely contact via email. Only OTRS volunteers are privy to OTRS matters; I’m not a volunteer, so any questions you have about the email need to be addressed to OTRS. — Marchjuly (talk) 23:12, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
- It appears that Majora has uploaded the WHL logo locally to Wikipedia as en:File:Winnipeg Table Hockey League logo.png under a non-free license. This is an acceptable option for the time being. If there's a problem with OTRS verifying your email, the local Wikipedia file will be kept; if there's no problem, the local will no longer be needed and will be replaced by the Commons file. This only applies to the logo file since there's really no way any of the other files you uploaded to be considered acceptable under a non-free license; so, you're just going to have to wait for OTRS to verify their licenses. FWIW, Majora is also Commons administrator and is very experienced in dealing with files on Commons and Wikipedia; so, he would be a good person to ask if you have any further questions about this. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:38, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
