Photo-phylles 2017
[edit]Hi,
I noticed some remarkable photos of plants on your gallery.
The International Salon Photo-phylles should interest you ! Please have a look here : http://www.jjmilan.sitew.fr/#accueil.A
This is both a competition and a pedagogical exhibition. Each year the selected pictures are exhibited in various places for more than 3 months and they receive some 4 - 5,000 visitors, among them about 3,000 young people coming with their teachers.
The entry is completely free of charges. We would be honoured to receive some of your best pictures in Bordeaux.
Best regards, Jean-Jacques MILAN (talk) 21:05, 21 December 2016 (UTC), administrator of the french Wikibooks
Your participation in WikiProject Nature and conservation in India
[edit]Hi Balu,
- Welcome to the Wikiproject on Nature and Conservation in India. I noticed you have uploaded many images and also added the WikiProject category to them. Please do add your name and interests as a participant on the project page here as well.
- Your user category Category: Images by Baluperoth does not yet appear under the Category: WikiProject Nature and conservation in India page. You can add it to the WikiProject category hierarchy by editing your user category page and adding this: [[Category:WikiProject Nature and conservation in India]] to that page. See Commons:WikiProject_Nature_and_conservation_in_India#Categories for more details about the category hierarchy and check it out to see if you find this useful.
- Look forward to more of your images and other contributions. Cheers,--Shankar Raman (talk) 14:55, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
Hi again Balu,
I noticed you added the WikiProject category to your user page. I've moved it to Category:Images by Baluperoth instead, so that your images now directly appear as a sub-category under the main Category:WikiProject Nature and conservation in India. If this is now what you intended, please do let me know and I can revert the edit. Cheers,--Shankar Raman (talk) 09:24, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
Dear Dr Shankar Raman, I do upload photographs not fit into the category: nature and conservation in India (eg: institutions, places, activities, people etc..) using the same user name. So, it may look odd to have such photos under the above category? But under Balu the images are arranged category-wise. That is why I gave user page instead of Category:Images by Baluperoth. You may please take an appropriate decision. best. Baluperoth (talk) 10:46, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, Thanks for the response. This is something I am also only getting to understand, but it seems to me that the way searches (also FastCCI, deepcat search) work on Commons is only if a category is directly added to an image or if it is down a category tree. The photos in your user page (nice ones, by the way!) are well organised, but not in true categories... they are placed in sub-pages of your user page in manually created galleries. I am not certain if my solution is better, but it makes your images more easy to locate on the WikiProject at present. The fact that some images are outside the scope of the project is probably not a big issue at this point. The other solution would be to create a sub-category like "Images by Baluperoth--nature", add that to relevant images, and place that sub-category under your user category and the WikiProject category.--Shankar Raman (talk) 13:08, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hello, I will work on it soon. Thanks for your valuable suggestions. Baluperoth (talk) 14:24, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
